Questions to the Audience? Do you know which aeronautical data you are using for your operations today? Do you know if the aeronautical data you are using is meeting the required quality requirements for a safe operation today? How are you ensuring that the aeronautical data required tomorrow is going to meet the quality requirements (e.g. PBN)? Do you know if the data you are using is from an authoritative source (trusted source, traceability, etc.)?

Purpose of the AIM Data Catalogue The Data Catalogue included in PANS-AIM Appendix xx shall be considered as a reference for all provisions related to aeronautical data origination and publication; The Data Catalogue provides a common language that can be used by data providers/originators and AIM; The Data Catalogue consolidates data that may be collected & maintained by AIM The Data Catalogue is the source of the accuracy and integrity requirements for determination and reporting of aeronautical data to AIM included in Annex 15 Chapter 4 as well as the source of the resolution and integrity requirements for publication and charting of products including aeronautical data included in Annex 15
AIM Data Domains Aerodromes; Airspaces; ATS Routes; Instrument Flight Procedures; Radio Navigation Aids / Systems; Obstacles and Geographic Information.

Data Types 1 Type Description Attributes or Metadata Coordinate Set of coordinates (latitude and longitude) referenced to the mathematical reference ellipsoid which define the position of a point on the surface of the Earth. Latitude Longitude Horizontal Reference System Units of measurement Horizontal Accuracy Lines Sequence of Coordinates defining a linear object Sequence of Coordinates Polygon Height Altitude Elevation Sequence of Coordinates forming the boundary of the polygon. The first and last Coordinate are identical. The vertical distance of a level, point or an object considered as a point, measured from a specific datum. The vertical distance of a level, a point or an object considered as a point, measured from mean sea level. The vertical distance of a point or a level, on or affixed to the surface of the earth, measured from mean sea level. Closed sequence of Coordinates Value Vertical Reference System Units of Measurement Vertical Accuracy Value Vertical Reference System Units of Measurement Vertical Accuracy Value Vertical Reference System Units of Measurement Vertical Accuracy
Data Types 2 Type Description Attributes or Metadata Distance A linear value Value Units of Measurement Accuracy Angle / Bearing An angular value Value Units of Measurement Accuracy Value Schedule Any measured, declared or derived value not listed above. A repetitive time period, composed of one or more intervals or special dates (e.g. holidays) occurring cyclically Value Units of Measurement Accuracy Text List A set of predefined Text strings or values Text Text Character Strings with no constraints
Data Catalogue Time Table Finalisation of a mature draft AIM Data Catalogue until end of April covering all ICAO Annexes, PANS and Docs; Distribution of the Data Catalogue to nominated points of contact of the OSC WGs (Instrument Flight Procedure, Airspace/Routes, Airports, Nav Aids) for review; Provide all comments until end of August 2015 and submit to AIMWG volunteers; Review and incorporation of comments provided; Submission of draft Data Catalogue to the ICAO AIS- AIMSG for approval and incorporation in PANS-AIM.
Nominations for Data Catalogue Review We require subject matter experts from the domains to perform a review between beginning of May until end of August 2015. Could the Chairs of the involved domains (Instrument Flight Procedure, Airspace/Routes, Airports, Nav Aids) act as focal points to get the subject matter experts involved?
Questions to the Audience Should the AIM Data Catalogue be provided accessible online? Should the AIM Data Catalogue be provided in the public domain (as an online database)? What other considerations shall the AIMWG take into account for the AIM Data Catalogue?
Summary The AIMWG is focusing on the deliverables as agreed in for AIMWG Work Plan has been aligned with the CANSO Vision 2020. The AIMWG is currently actively contributing to the work of the ICAO AIS-AIM SG (CANSO AIMWG Rep: Kelly Hicks, NavCanada, supported by three advisors from the AIMWG: Peter Rudolf, Avitech; Ruedi Schneeberger, ITV Consult; Roland Baumann, skyguide) a major deliverable is the AIM Data Catalogue. The AIMWG is liaising with the CANSO ICAO IMP (CANSO Rep: Kelly Hicks, NavCanada)
