SEEDS 005.Photo Marathon & Winter Lights festival KEY INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR CAMP 28.01-06.02.2017 10 volunteers 220 - Cash (EUR or ISK) Meeting point and time: Hverfisgata 92b, 17:00 (5:00 pm) Emergency contacts: Oscar: (+354) 771 3300 Anna: (+354) 771 3383 Brief camp description This is the tenth year that SEEDS organizes series of International Photo marathons! Throughout the year participants from all over the world come to Iceland for an intensive Photo marathon project. SEEDS coordinators work with the participants to develop their unique photographic voice through workshops and feedback sessions on technical settings, compositional considerations as well as developing conceptual frameworks which progress the participants individual style. When the workshop ends, we gather as a group to select some of our best pictures from the trip and prepare those images for an informal group exhibition locally. While learning more about photography the participants explore Icelandic culture by taking part in it, capturing it and also by working for the City of Reykjavik. One of our objectives is to deliver messages and draw the attention to the local population through pictures and photos made during the camp. Participants should arrive ready to shoot and should bring with them their own digital cameras, lenses and laptops if possible. Volunteers should be prepared for walking and visually exploring the city streets and working within a flexible time schedule. Participants will be photographing in their free time outside of workshop hours with images to be discussed at group feedback sessions. Please note that this project is more of a learning/sharing camp and not a regular work camp; we may be able to organize some outdoor voluntary service but it depends on our partners and weather conditions. The Winter Lights Festival is an annual event that stimulates the city life in the midwinter. The Festival celebrates both the winter world and the growing light after a long period of darkness. The program is a mixture of art and industry, environment and history, sports and culture. The festival provides entertainment for Reykjavík s locals and guests alike. More information at www.winterlightsfestival.is Winter Lights Festival is an event to be enjoyed by all and all events are free of charge. SEEDS will not be able to give away any passes for the festival, there are however a lot of free events all around town to take advantage of. SEEDS also organises excursions outside of the city, which gives the chance to see more of what this beautiful country has to offer at a discounted price.

The world s northernmost capital bridges the Atlantic, between Europe and North America. Reykjavík is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean on almost all sides. Reykjavik is often called the nightlife capital of the north. But there is more to Reykjavík than pubs and clubs. Reykjavík also gathers the most interesting of Icelandic culture. It is an incubator of new ideas and styles, which often indicates new global trends. It is an International city with a lively Cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded with beautiful nature.
