L to R: The team worked on demoing existing TIOA lockers and getting ready to build out new ones. The guys put together the reducing pressure valve to replace the old pressure valves. Tower 2, Room 5 New Owners Lockers being built ~pip Tree trimmers came this week to trim our coconut trees & remove hangers and maturing nuts for safety reasons. It s always really cool to watch the tree climbers do their thing! Planted more hibiscus in the porte cochere planters. The airport designator JHM, is for the President of Hawaiian Airlines at the time John Henry Magoon. In 1993 when Hawaiian Airlines was having a tough time economically, the State of Hawai i purchased the airport so that West Maui would continue to have air service. Kapalua Airport is governed by a special agreement made by the State of Hawai i with Maui County. Major changes or improvement to Kapalua airport cannot be made without the consent of the Maui County Council. The Maui County insists on limiting development to preserve the Kapalua community from commercialization. Kapalua airport is restricted to a single runway, terminal facilities and support facilities. Operations are restricted to daytime use only. The view from the areaa at Kapalua airport looking down out to the ocean across the channels are breath-taking. We will be doing the project in phases to minimize the disruption or impact to the property, owners, and guests. The scheduled events are as follows: Jan 5-8, minimal landscaping changes with near nil disruption; Jan 11-27, BBQ and BBQ area renovation. This will involve cutting stone, granite, tile, as well as some demolition. The immediate area will be closed and barricaded. There will be some noise and dust from the foregoing. There will be temporary BBQs available on the lawn to the north of the T2 makai (oceanside) exit; Feb 1- March 1, install of paver path and patio makai (oceanside) of T2 between the BBQs and the T2 exit path. This will involve cutting pavers, as well as some demolition. The immediatee area will be closed and barricaded. There will be some noise and dust from the foregoing. There will be no beach access from south facing T2 lanais during this phase. Outdoor access will exist, but will end at the makai (oceanside) corner of the building. Beach access will be through the hall to the makai (oceanside) exit of T2. We may continue to use the temporary BBQs due to access at this time; and April 4-21, replace the exit path from makai (oceanside) T2 to the beach. The T2 makai (oceanside) exit will be closed during this period. A rendition of the project is on the Whaler web-site. ~Evelyn Resort Fee: Please be sure to inform all of your Guests about the new Resort Fee of $15 to avoid Guest dissatisfaction about not being notified. The letter that was sent to all Owners is posted on the website. The letter can be found under Owner Only, News, page 4. Resort Fees will go up to $16 on April 1, 2016. Pest Control Quarterly Spray: Technicians are servicing units in Tower 2. Technicians will be working on Tuesdays. Tuesday, January 29 they will be working on common areas. Mahalo for your patience and understanding. Holiday Period (No Unit Renovationn Work): Annually, for the comfort and enjoyment of Owners and Guests, we have a Holiday Period during which time Contractors pause from work at the Whaler. Please make note of the following: No Unit Renovation Work starting Saturday, December 19- Sunday, January 3. Unit Renovation work allowed as normal before and after said dates. Tower 1 AC General Cleaning Service: This project is ongoing. Each unit will take a minimum of 2 hours. Unit occupants will be notified via flyer notice the day prior to service. Whalers Village Renovation Work: The Whalers Village started its mall-wide renovation project in early April 2015 with completion slated for late 2016. Work will include improvements to the common areas (new hardscape, flooring, landscape, and modified stairways) as well as new restroom and upgrading existing lighting and signage. Approximately 10,000 sq. ft. of new space will complement existing and or reconfigured retailers. Please expect work related noise from 8am-5pm daily as their renovationn project commences. Should you experience noise disturbances outside of those hours, please contact Security (dial 0 and Front Desk will page them) so that our Security team can inquire with the Whalers Village about the noise. ~Evelyn

The Whaler is pleased to announce that tennis pro Tony Rappa is now available for private lessons ($40/hr.), or non-instructional hitting sessions or games ($30/hr.), at the Whaler courts. Personalized lesson packages for individuals, families, and groups are also available upon request. Based on occupancy projections as well as data collected on the use of Valet Services by Owners and Guests during the first few weeks of Valet Services (our trial period), we adjusted the Valet Service hours last week. 10am - 10pm If you have had to drive to the other side of the island that last couple days, you must have been stuck in traffic Pa ia surf! Due to a fire along the highway (on the pali) firefighters had to close the road yesterday and today. Drive safe and plan ahead as it will take more time to get to the other side.
