Anacapa Yacht Club Mainsheet Volume 2012 Issue 6 June 2012 Commodores Report: BILL BRAYTON I love this time of year. We have Wet Weds every week. We have weekend sail boat racing. We have weekend cruising to the islands and neighboring harbors. We have the Kings going for the Stanley Cup. Yes these are the days Speaking of Wet Weds I would like to give a big AYC shout out to Gene Beville for his part in getting the Wet Weds starting line back inside the detached breakwater this year. Way to go Gene. I would also like to say thanks to Ira Bigeleisen for putting together a great Cinco De Mayo Feast. Ira put it together and was unable to attend. As usual the club members stepped up and got things handle and a great time was had by all. Thank Ira Our Team AYC Shirts were delivered a couple of weeks ago along with Team AYC sweatshirts. At this printing I believe we have all sizes still in stock. Tees are $15 Master Calendar 13 If you missed out on your sweatshirts ( I know some did and its all my fault). I will be putting together another order and we will get everyone taken care of. Last but not least. Tina and I just returned from a fantastic vacation to the British Virgin Islands with a catamaran full of AYC members. We proudly flew out AYC battle flag at every beautiful anchorage. The Taylors, Lehmans and Chattaways all had a wonderful time. I believe there will be a full report from Don Lehman later in this mainsheet. Sea you at the Club or out on the water. Have a great month! Bill Brayton Commodore Commodore s Report 1 0B0BVice Commodore s Report 2 Rear Commodore's Report 3 Sponsor Bio 4 AYC at the BVI 8 Calendar 11 Birthdays 12

On May 18 th we had a speaker on nesting birds on our local Islands and Mike Core and Irra prepared a wonderful meal. Cherri and I were not there but heard it went quite well. If anyone has thoughts on other speaker type presentations please let me know. Up coming in June we have or new members Isabella and Mack preparing dinner on June 1 st. I will be eating it tonight and it sounds wonderful. On June 8 th Lacour and Howe. On June 15 th we are working on a Commodores BBQ with tasty meats, potatoes and fixins prepared by your very own Commodores. We have another new member, Manolis Dimotakis who races a fast little Santa Cruz 27 named Deliverance. We are thrilled to have another member and racer on team AYC! From the Vice Commodores Chair I wish you all a very nice June with good eats and following seas. As always if you are unable to manage your OD schedule please attempt to reschedule with other members of let us know as soon as possible. Best regards, Mike Taylor AYC Vice Commodore

Rear Commodores Report: Joe Underwood Ahoy Members and Friends, Wow what a great month of May, we have had many gatherings and on-the-water activities keeping us all busy. The cruise out to Prisoner s Cove was blown out but that did not keep us from having a good time at the dock on Friday and Saturday. Thank you to Richard and Paula for allowing us to gather at the Famous H Dock for some tasty treats and a good social. Some boat went out for a day sail on Sunday and some headed out to make an overnighter somewhere on the Island, Joanne and I entered the AYC Anacapa to Port Race and just had a blast. Monday Gary Goodman headed a great lunch cruise, we had Alcyone and Huba Huba loaded down with friends for a great sail to Ventura Harbor. We have a good mix of events for the month of June, with racing in full swing and cruising starting to get its groove going. So get on those boats and take full advantage of the blossoming summer. June Racing, 1. Saturday June 2, CIYC is hosting the Bob Cooke Memorial Double Handed Race. 2. Sunday June 3, VYC is hosting the Commodore s Classic. 3. Saturday June 9, VYC is hosting the Governor s Cup. 4. Saturday June 9, SBYC is hosting the Commodore s Regatta. 5. Sunday June 10, CIYC is hoisting the John Larson Memorial. 6. Saturday/Sunday June 23/24 CIYC is hosting the Channel Islands to Marina Del Ray Race. 9. Saturday June 23, SBYC/SBSC is hosting the Semana Nautica & SBSC series #3. 10. Saturday June 30, SBYC is hosting the Summer Regatta (OD). 11. Saturday June 30, VSC is hosting the Frenchy s Rum Run (PHRF). June Cruising, 1. June 2/3 Cruise to Yellow Banks. 2. June 30 to July 1 st Cruise to Scorpion s Cove As you can see from the long list of activates this month there is no reason to be sitting at the dock, so go out have some fun and live it up out on the water. Best Regards, Joe Underwood Anacapa Yacht Club Rear Commodore / Cruise Chairman / Staff Commodore 2009
