Upon arrival at Athens airport, a Globus representative will be there to meet you and transfer you to the hotel. In the evening, meet your Globus Host and traveling companions for a welcome drink. DAY 2, SUNDAY JUNE 2, 2019 ATHENS Sightseeing with a Local Guide features a visit to the world-famous ACROPOLIS, perched high on a rocky outcrop overlooking the city. Here, see the Parthenon, the Erechtheum with its Porch of Maidens, the Temple of Athena Nike, and enjoy a panoramic view that includes glimpses of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Theater of Dionysus, and the beautifully preserved Theseum, where Socrates taught. Later, a city orientation tour features the Old Parliament House and a picture stop at the Panathenaic Stadium. Built in the 2nd century AD, it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble, and was host to the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympics in 1896. (Breakfast) DAY 3, MONDAY JUNE 3, 2019 ATHENS PIRAEUS/RAFINA (EMBARKATION) MYKONOS Meet your Tour Director and head for the port of Piraeus or Rafina this morning. Around 7:30 am, sail into the deep-blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Later, dock at the mountainous island of Mykonos, where mythology s Heracles defeated and killed the giants. Here, characteristic windmills, swaying palm and eucalyptus trees, and dazzling white Cycladic architecture greet you. At a local restaurant this evening, sample local specialties, like louza loukaniko (sausage) and kopanisti (peppery goat cheese), then mingle with the locals at a quaint taverna or take a bus to the main square of Mando Mavrogenous. (Breakfast, Dinner) DAY 4, TUESDAY JUNE 4, 2019 MYKONOS The granite island of Mykonos is one of the most characteristic of the Cyclades and has retained its timeless beauty. Walk through the network of narrow streets and visit the CHURCH OF AGIA KIRIAKI, renowned for its beautiful icons, and also taste a traditional Mykonian dessert, Amygdalota. DAY 5, WEDNESDAY JUNE 5, 2019 AT LEISURE ON MYKONOS A whole day to do just as you please. Relax in the sun on one of the beautiful golden sandy beaches or take a short boat ride to see the archaeological ruins on the nearby island of Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inhabited since the 3rd millennium BC, Delos was known in ancient times as a sacred sanctuary and, later, as the birthplace of the twin gods, Apollo and Artemis. (Breakfast) DAY 6, THURSDAY JUNE 6, 2019 MYKONOS SANTORINI Today, board a high-speed EXPRESS FERRY and sail to Santorini (Thera), the stunning Black Pearl of the Aegean and, according to some, site of the legendary lost continent of Atlantis. Tonight, enjoy a traditional Greek meal. (Breakfast, Dinner) DAY 7, FRIDAY JUNE 7, 2019 SANTORINI Spend the morning getting acquainted with the history and creation of Santorini. Be sure to review this packet in its entirety, and advise us of any necessary changes immediately to avoid any change fees or vacation interruptions: It is important that names match your government-issued ID to avoid incurring a $50 name change fee, additional airline penalties of $300 or more per person, and/or delays to your trip. Look over your vacation details: the dated itinerary, your flights, and other details, to ensure that we ve covered everything you need for your vacation. Additional advisements may be sent to you. All passengers traveling internationally are required to have a passport. Check visa and entry/exit requirements with your local consulate(s). Responsibility for obtaining visas rests with the traveler. Confirmation of hotels will be available approximately 30 days prior to departure. In the event of additional departures on the same date, or other events that may result in the unavailability of hotels as listed in the tour descriptions, the accommodations substituted will be equivalent in standard. Optional excursion pricing and payment options will be available in your Travel Packet (or Documents for Groups) and will list the currency in which those optional excursions are purchasable. If your tour allows you to pay by credit card for those optional excursions, your bank will convert, if necessary, the amount to your local currency at your bank's exchange rate. Full details will be provided in around 90 days prior to travel and in passenger documents. This tour has a welcome drink scheduled for 6pm on the day of arrival. If clients arrive at the hotel after 6pm they will miss the welcome drink. Clients will not be reimbursed if they miss the drink. Once deposited, any changes affecting the internal air including but not limited to a date change, tour change, or name change will incur a mandatory change fee of $150 USD per person as internal air will be ticketed upon deposit.
