ARDINGLY COLLEGE TRANSPORT GUIDE 2018-2019 ENQUIRIES schoolbuses@ardingly.com 01444 893113 (Monday to Friday term time) 01444 893000 Holiday periods www.ardingly.com/travel-and-transport 1

THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE! As you may know, Ardingly College is situated in over 250 acres of beautiful West Sussex countryside. This enviable setting offers us many opportunities and possibilities but our rural location also means that we are somewhat off the beaten track. In light of this and to help all parents, students and staff, this guide details all the possible ways of travelling to and from the College as well as other useful information to help you plan your daily journey. The College is committed to minimising the number of vehicles on campus, reducing its carbon footprint, and pursuing a sustainable approach to travel. We also wish to address the inherent safety risk from moving traffic, particularly during the busy morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. To help the College achieve this, we would strongly encourage both staff and students to make use of the school bus service whenever possible. We recognise that using a school bus is not possible for everyone and that, for some, travelling by car is the only option. NEW FOR 2018-19 Hove stop Our Burgess Hill route has been extended down the A23 serve Hove Lewes stop Our Nutley route will be altered from Lent 2019 to start at Lewes rather than Nutley To help drivers safely navigate their way through the campus and to reduce traffic congestion, we operate a oneway system at certain times of the day, full details of which can be found on page 14. In the interests of everyone, may I kindly request that all drivers observe these arrangements and all pedestrians cross College Road only at the controlled crossing. We hope you agree that we can only expect students to follow the example set by adults. This guide also contains information about cycling and walking to College, taxi bookings, student cars, our Friday afternoon Boarders bus service to Haywards Heath Station and our Sunday shuttle bus service to Sainsbury s. Finally, if you have any questions, comments or feedback, please contact College Transport on 01444 893113 or e-mail schoolbuses@ardingly.com Wishing you a safe and pleasant journey! Kind regards, NIALL BUCHANAN TRANSPORT MANAGER 2

BUS ROUTES Please Note: Depending on traffic conditions, buses may divert from the route between stops and make extra drop-offs for PM passengers only. 3
