The Great Robbery By Artemisa Santiago Martha West Donald Weber Maria Vasquez

I m Robert Deline a New York Times reporter. I ve been at this amazing job for six years, and like all reporters, I m always out there looking for new stories to write about. There I was in John F. Kennedy airport being a witness of a robbery. I had been waiting for a taxi almost two hours when all this started and I thought I could come up with a really good story. It was a sunny Saturday to be more specific. There was an old lady standing next to a stop sign on the corner of Lincoln Street waiting for someone. As she walked to the door of the airport, a big man with long hair and tattoos on his arms pulled at her purse and told her not to move, or he was going to kill her with a gun that he was hiding inside his jacket. The lady got scared. This man threatened her in front of everyone, and the viewers were scared too, but they couldn t do anything for her because they didn t want to die. However, this old lady decided not to cooperate, and fought him back, so the man hit her in the face with his fist and made her fall over. The man threatened the crowd and told them to ignore what was happening. The tattooed man pointed out a man in the crowd and said, "Give me all your money and I ll leave her alone". But when Tattoo Man saw the wallet held out to him he stole it and tried to escape. I had been filming everything, but I got scared when I saw him running towards me. At that moment, I decided to help the police. To my surprise when I looked around, the place was surrounded by police. After a few minutes of stress and anxiety, the criminal gave himself up. The police said, "You have to pay for what you have done". My story is now in the front page of the New York post. Since the day of my publication I ve been recognized as one of the best reporters in New York City. My name has been coming up in the news and my peers look up to me. Even though I am seen as a tough man, I admit that I am a bit scared these days because I heard that the criminal was recently let out. I am sure he thinks that I helped out with his capture. If we ever cross paths, I ll tell him that I am not the one responsible and that he would gain nothing by taking me out. I just hope he forgets all about me and lets me continue my life as a New York Times reporter.

The Change (The Wilson s story) 1 Midori Brown 2 Bernardo Garcia 3 Sandra Jung 4 All together Sometimes unfortunately an event becomes a chance to realize what is important to you. Here is a story about an accident that brought a family back together. The family s name is Wilson: Dad, Mom, their son, Mike and their daughter, Amy. After Mike entered high school, he started cutting school and avoided talking to his parents. Mom and dad were having a hard time figuring him out and it caused fights everyday. The day of the accident, it seemed like any other morning. Mike didn t show up at the breakfast table and then dad and Amy left the house to go to work and school. Mom and Mike were in a hurry to leave the house because Mike was already late for school. Mom grabbed the car keys from the table quickly and rushed to the car, but Mike didn't care about being late. After a few minutes, she was speeding over 80 mph, and at that particular moment, her cell phone rang, distracting her from the road. She didn't see there was an intersection, and by the time she hung up the phone, another car was in the middle of the intersection. She was frightened and turned the steering wheel quickly to the right and ran off the road, but unfortunately she crashed into the tree. Mike was fine, but mom was unconscious. The impact of the crash was terrible, and Mike fainted away for a short time. Soon he came to himself and looked around inside the car and found his mom was unconscious. "Why is mom sitting like that? Where are we?" He unbuckled the seat belt slowly, touched her carefully, and thanked God that she was still breathing. He quickly looked for her cell phone in her bag, but it wasn't there. After a while he found it under the seat and called 911. In a few minutes, police officers and an ambulance came and they told him that they had to move her to the hospital quickly because she had head and chest injuries. All the way to the hospital Mike was fighting back tears and praying desperately for the first time ever in his life. Dad was already in the hospital and waiting for them, and as dad and Mike saw each other, they both ran over and held each other tightly shivering. By mom s bed, Mike was sitting blaming himself and wishing she would wake up. But after a while he started to doze off, and then he suddenly woke up because he felt someone s hand. It was mom. She was looking at him with a slight smile putting her hand on his. A few months later, it seemed like any other Wilson morning, but nobody disappeared as before. Sounds of laughter and conversations were coming from the dining room, and there were mom, dad, Amy... and Mike, sharing their morning together.

Seasons 1 Grace Kim 2 Claudia Martinez 3 Juana Martinez 4 Filomeno Lopez Every year we get to enjoy four fantastic seasons. In the springtime, everything is changing little by little. The flowers have broken out blooming and the tree leaves start to grow. You can see beautiful yellow-greens everywhere. And have you found out about the queen of seasons, May? The queen is everything s mother. All the beautiful flowers are in full blossom, and they are celebrating Mother s day. If you take a walk in the soft beams of sunlight, which make you happy, you can say hello to her. Most people look forward to summer to be on vacation. People from the Imperial Valley try to pick out somewhere where it is cooler because here in the Valley, the weather in summer goes up to 120. It feels as if we are in an oven. Summers are extreme. People don t have too many outdoor choices. One thing you can do is refresh yourself by spending your evenings watching a movie at the drive-in. Another thing to do is kick back at a swimming pool and cool off. Most of the population of the U.S. don t like this heat. Incredibly, some people like summer better than other seasons. It must be because at their arthritis. You know it is fall when you have to search for a warm jacket in the back of your closet. You don t want to get out of bed because it is windy outside. Fall is when leaves fall down out of the trees carpeting all the grassy yards. Most people like having dried leaves on the lawn because they love fall. In this hardworking season, we also celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one of the most important dates for Americans. Winter has weather that some people enjoy even though others don t care for it. When it s coming up, everyone in America prepares by putting on jackets, scarves, sweaters and mittens, etc.winter is for children who want to have snowball fights, they want to see and touch the snow because it is so funny and strange. Another important thing is that Christmas and the New Year are approaching, so all the families get together to share gifts, hugs, feelings and friends. Are you ready to enjoy four great seasons? Go outside and enjoy!

My Trip to Europe Last year I was in Italy and France for only one month, but I visited many places and bought many things for my family and friends. I planned for it for more than five years. It was my dream, and the ticket cost only $800. When I arrived at the airport, I was looking for my ticket, but I couldn t find it. My mom passed it to me because it was in her purse, and finally I got on my plane. The trip was so long. I saw a movie, but it wasn t very interesting, and I dozed off. I was excited because my dream was finally coming true, but the landing was just the beginning. Outside the airplane window when we were landing, I saw a beautiful monument called The Greek Temple of the Pollo Poesturn, Italy. Europe is one of the seven traditional continents of the earth. So I had an idea to find out about a tourist agency. After 20 hours on an airplane, I was not feeling up to doing it, but I went ahead. I was looking forward to the opportunity to learn about its history from a tourist guide. After I walked a few blocks, I asked a man and he pointed

to an agency. I got an application, but I didn t like the way that the agent talked to me. He said, Don t forget to fill all the blanks in with the correct information. After a few days in Italy, even though I had bad moments, I was happy and amazed by all those wonderful sites that I saw. But it was the moment to experience something new, so, I couldn t pass up the opportunity to realize one of my dreams of seeing La Belle France. I spent all day just looking at the most famous sites. The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Picasso Museum and Notre Dame, etc. I am not the best traveler in the world as I tend to try and look at too many things all at once, but in Paris there were so many things I had to see. I was totally burned out after hours of sightseeing, so I went to the hotel to rest and then continue my wonderful trip. The next morning I woke up very early. I wanted to make use of every minute, and I did. I spent all day visiting museums, going shopping and tasting delicious wines and cheese.

That night when I was in the hotel, I felt the urge to go to the Eiffel Tower again, so I went. When I was on the top, I saw the city lights all around me; a handsome man came and stood next to me. He introduced himself to me and we talked all night. By the time the sun came up, we were in love. It was only a summer love, but it was the most beautiful experience that I ve lived and I ll remember it for the rest of my life.
