TAAI Newsline Volume 27 I Jan/Feb 2012 TAAI HAPPENINGS AIR MAURITIUS ROAD SHOW IN NAGPUR Addressing the Audience GURMEET SINGH VIJ, Nagpur Chapter Chairman and his members GURMEET SINGH VIJ, our Nagpur Chapter Chairman and his office bearers arranged for their members to attend the Air Mauritius road show co branded with the Chapter on 14 Dec 2011. More than 50 members participated in the event wherein a presentation was given by the airline showcasing all information about their product and the beautiful Destination of Mauritius. MAURITIUS is a frequently visited Destination by Indian tourists for its exotic scenery & warm hospitality. The top performing agents of Nagpur were duly recognized by the airline thus motivating others to do the same and perform better. Mr Vineet & Mr Girish who represented Air Mauritius were introduced to the TAAI fraternity present. Everyone appreciated the kind gesture of being treated to dinner, hosted by the airline. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Madhuri Deo Chapter Secretary. BONDING THROUGH CRICKET Andra Pradesh Chapter held a cricket match on the 7th of January between its members and the airlines in the Secunderabad Club cricket grounds. The match was for twenty overs each. It was a fun filled afternoon with both the teams giving their best of efforts. The Chapter also had all the CRS companies, the GMR airport officials and other trade partners participating in the match. And for those who did not take part in the cricket match, there were exciting rounds of tug of war. There was an attendance of over 150 people for this wonderful afternoon. The agents team was led by Mr. Veera Mohan of Frontline Travels from Vizag and the airlines' team was captained by Mr.Gorden of Air Arabia Mr. Ganesh Rao of Ascon Travels did a wonderful job as a commentator, keeping the entire audience enthralled. Mr. Nagesh Pampati of Chapter Treasurer, from Aeroworld Travels, Mr. Ajay Chapter Secretary, from Lorven travels and Mr. Hemanth Pandya of RK Tours and Travels were instrumental in organizing the entire event. Mr. Ganesh Rao the announcer receiving an memento for his wonderful commentary. TAAI Newsline Volume 27 I Jan/Feb 2012 TAAI HAPPENINGS NORTHERN REGION DELHI TAAI Northern region's 3rd meeting recently concluded with a presentation by VFS officials who put up a fine presentation and later also clarified the members' queries and concerns Commander C. P. Sharma Chairman Visa Council, who was called upon to chair the session welcomed Mr. Vishal Jairath, head of operations-south Asia and Mr Atul Marwah Head of OperationsIndia and his team for the program. Mr Hemant Biala, unit manager operations also joined for the presentation. Later, there was a question and answer session in open house. Mr Jairath addressed the house and gave the workings of VFS stating that it was only a mediator / facilitator and any problem facing the industry would have to taken with the embassies/consulates. Mr. Jairath promised to take note of the Northern Region Chairperson Jyoti Mayal with members issues and conduct regular training programs for their front line staff to handle the situations. He also provided his e-mail id to the chairperson, Jyoti Mayal and office bearers for any communication and assured the house that he and his team would look into it on a priority basis and revert back within 48 hours. The Chairperson also suggested that a panel be formed with VFS, TAAI and Embassies to enable to meet on a common platform to discuss agents problems.. And last but not the least, to hold a training program with visa staff of travel agency's, to enable to have a smoother working. All the points were taken with a positive attitude and assurance of being done. Mrs. Mayal thanked Mr. Jairath and his team and mementos were presented to them by the office bearers. N.R. KARNATAKA CHAPTER Karnataka Chapter Secretary Mr. M.S.Raghavan in attendance TAAI Banner at Mount Carmel College An event organized by faculty and students of travel and tourism department of Mount Carmel College, Bangalore to emphasize on Travel & Tourism on 13th January 2012 had our Karnataka Chapter Secretary Mr. M.S.Raghavan in attendance representing TAAI Karnataka. The event titled "IRE FESTUM 2012" Venture into the Unknown which was an Inter-Collegiate Tourism Fest got good participation wherein the auditorium witnessed an unprecedented crowd. Mr. Raghavan was attended the Inauguration as a Special Guest representing our Association. The event good coverage in the media too. 6
