NOVA SCOTIA CANADIAN MARITIME ADVENTURE YOUR NAME HERE September 17 25, 2017 Sept. 17 - Travel to Portland where we board the afternoon ferry to Yarmouth, NS. We ll arrive in the evening and check into our hotel. Dinner is included. (D) Sept. 18 - Following breakfast we depart along the Evangeline Trail to Halifax, our home for the next two evenings. On the way we stop at Grand Pre National Historic Site which was an Acadian settlement from 1682 to 1755 and commemorates the Deportation of the Acadians, which began in 1755 and continued until 1762. Halifax is Nova Scotia s largest city, dominated by a fortress called The Citadel. We ll tour the city including the Citadel before we check into our hotel and freshen up for Dinner. (B, D)
Sept. 19 Following breakfast, we finish our tour of the Halifax area. We will visit the Fairview Lawn Cemetery where those who died in the Titanic are buried, Halifax Public Gardens, the Citadel National Historic Site. This star shaped fortification was completed in 1856 and stands on a hill overlooking downtown. Lunch on own. This afternoon, we will visit Peggy s Cove, the tiny fishing village centered on a narrow ocean inlet and dominated by a lighthouse perched high up on huge wave-washed granite boulders. Enjoy dinner on your own at the Sou wester while watching the sunset. Return to hotel. (B) Sept. 20 This morning we leave for CAPE BRETON ISLAND, where we'll spend the next two nights. The Canso Causeway joins the island to the main section of Nova Scotia. Most of the Province is surrounded by water; the Atlantic Ocean & the Northumberland Strait. Dinner will be at our hotel this evening at the Silver Dart Inn, our home for the next two evenings in BADDECK. (B,D) Sept. 21 Following breakfast at the hotel we visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. This museum houses the largest collection of photographs, artifacts, and personal effects to the inventor of the telephone. We ll then begin our journey along the Cabot Trail which is considered one of the most scenic byways in the world with its magnificent mountains, coastal wilderness and ever changing seascapes. There will be photo stops along the way. Return to our resort to relax and enjoy our surroundings followed by a delicious dinner. (B,D)
Sept. 22 -This morning after breakfast we check out and travel to Caribou where we take the ferry to Wood Islands on Prince Edward Island. We ll tour the island and visit the Anne Green Gables House and the Prince Edward Preserve Company in New Glasgow. Tonight, we will enjoy a traditional lobster supper in North Rustico at Fisherman s Wharf Lobster Suppers. (B, Lobster Dinner) Sept. 23 - This morning we travel to Borden where we cross over the Confederation Bridge to Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick. We ll continue to Saint John, where we ll stay tonight.
