Club President s Message Dear Friends, March started off with a speaker who spoke on how to beat the Ides of March. Mr Sreenivasan was a exceptionally good motivational and mental development speaker. It was a captivating talk. The month ended with another good speaker, Mr Ashish Bhasin, CEO of advertising company DENTSU AEGIS. He spoke on how to motivate your people and manage your company. Riaz Nagree President Our club was the lead co-host club for the first ever District holiday to Tashkent from 19 th to 24 th March. 10 club members went for the holiday. 128 members across the district were present. Great fun, food and country. The tour was organized by our club member, Lamiya Unwala s company, PEP travels, assisted by PP Devang Goradia. On 25 th March, we had a fellowship at the beautifully restored Royal Opera House. The program was a stand up comedian. 106 members and Ann s enjoyed the program. We had our monthly visit to the Jalaram Baparam trust to distribute the Annapurna meals where Girish and Paresh were present. We also had our monthly visit to the Old age home by Seema Agarwal and Mariya Nagree and the skill training program at YMCA conducted by Gunita Chadha and Yakuta Rassai.
The Month That Wasn t March 2017 Programmes: On Friday, 10 th March 2017, Mr Suresh Srinivasan, Motivational and Enthusiasm Specialist addressed the Club on Enthusiasm is Everything at the M.C. Ghia Hall. On that day our Club inducted Sanjay Bathija as a Member. He was introduced by IPP Rtn Dr Cyres Mehta and was loaned the classification LUXURY BATHWARE & BRAND MANAGEMENT. On Sunday, 26 th March 2017, 8 Members attended the District Training Assembly held at Ta j Lands End, Bandra. On Friday, 31 st March 2017, Mr Ashish Bhasin, Chairman & CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network, South Asia and Chairman Posterscope & MKTG Asia Pacific spoke on Management Lessons Learnt the Hard Way: a True Story. He is the spouse of our new Rtn Mayuri Bhasin.
The Month That Wasn t March 2017 Fellowship: Lead Club for Tashkent Samarkand Bukhara Rotary District 3141 Fellowship Trip: RCBP was the Lead Club for the fantastic 4 nights 5 days International Tour to Tashkent which was organized by Rtn PP Devang Goradia from Sunday, 19 th March 2017 to Friday, 24th March 2017. It was the first time an International Fellowship Trip had been organized for the District wherein more than 130 Members and Spouses of pver 23 Rotary Clubs in District 3141 participated. The entire trip was meticulously planned and executed by Rtn PP Devang Goradia and Rtn Shabbir Unwala. The International Fellowship Trip was attended by DG Rtn Gopal and Seema Mandhani and many other District Dignitaries. Stay was at Ramada Tashkent Hotel. Our Club was represented by 10 members and spouses: President Rtn Riaz and Mariya Nagree Rtn PP Devang and Beena Goradia Rtn Noor and Tasneem Haji Rtn PP Sailesh and Pallavi Bhatia Rtn PP Saurabh Sonawala and Rtn PP Shabbir Gabajiwala. They visited Chimgan Mountains, Charvak Lake, did the Tashkent city tour and saw monument of courage, Romanov prince duke residence, memorial of repressions victims and independence square. They took the Afrosiyob Bullet Train to Samarkand and saw the biggest observatory of 15th C. They visited the Gur Emir Mausoleum Outside, Registan Square Outside and Samarkant Grand Bazars. The credit for the success of this entire fellowship trip goes to Rtn PP Devang Goradia. He has made our Club proud. A big thank you to him for all his efforts. It was super fun and great bonding with Rotarians and between Presidents of other Rotary Clubs.
The Month That Wasn t March 2017 Projects: NON MEDICAL On Saturday, 4 th March 2017, our Club had organized Rotary Annapoorna Project at Jai Jalaram Bapa Trust, Bhuleshwar. We served meals to 280 poor people. The project was attended by Rtn Girish Jain, Rtn Ashish Shah, Rtn Birendra Saraf and Rtn Paresh Shah. On Tuesday, 7 th March 2017, First Lady Mariya Nagree and Anne Seema Agarwal visited the Shepherd s Widows Home. They played games, distributed snacks and spent quality time with them. Anne Jalpa Shah had sent biscuits and chocolates to be distributed to them. On Friday, 10 th March 2017, our Club inaugurated one set of 2 toilets constructed at a Municipal School in Palghar District under Nityam Wins District Project. There is also a washing area attached to the toilets. The cost per set of 2 toilets is Rs 1.10 lakhs The toilets were sponsored by the Club. The Project was attended by Rtn PP Riaz Nagree. DG Rtn Gopal Mandhania was the Chief Guest. Our 2 nd GG Project for rehabilitation of Deaf children has been approved by The Rotary Foundation for USD 65,000. Sincere thanks to the donors and to the tremendous efforts put in by Rtn PP Saurabh Sonawala, Senior District Rotarian Dilip Vora in completing the documentation and also to Khozem Arsiwalla who is the Trustee of DEEDS for arranging the funds and helping in the documentation. A big thank you to Rtn Suneel Utamchandani for introducing his brother-in-law in Hongkong. His Club Rotary Club Kowloon Golden Mile is our international partner club.
The Month That Wasn t March 2017 MEDICAL On Thursday, 9 th March 2017, on the occasion of International Women s Day, our Club along with Inner Wheel Club of Bombay Pier had organized a Gynec Medical Checkup Camp at YMCA for 68 lady teachers. We had organized a team of doctors and nurses from Saifee and Wockhardt Hospitals. Multi Vitamin, Iron Tablets and lunch were distributed. On Wednsday, 15 th March 2017, the Rotaractors of SIES College Sion West had organized a Blood Donation Drive at Dadar Railway Station. 150 bottles of blood were collected and donated to Shree J.J. Mahanagar Rakta Pethi, SBTC. New GG No 1749646 for Pediatric Heart Surgery for USD 76000 has been approved by The Rotary Foundation in a record time of less than a week. The Club will be sponsoring surgeries for 33 kids under the age group of five years at Kokilaben Hospital. Sincere thanks to Rtn Ashok Shah for completing the documentation, PDG Rtn Ajay Gupta, Rtn PP Hussain Rassai and Rtn PP Saurabh Sonawala for helping with the correspondence with Rotary Club of Chicago. Sincere gratitude to the donors from RCBP, Rotary Club of Jalna and overseas donors who have helped raise this amount. VOCATIONAL On Wednsday, 22 nd March 2017, our Annes conducted Soft Skills Training Workshop at YMCA Vocational Training Centre.
