World Meeting of Families 08 Every three years the Catholic Church brings together the largest international gathering of families in the world. Ireland will have the joy of hosting the next World Meeting of Families, on behalf of Pope Francis, from - August 08! As a nation we will be playing host to thousands of families and pilgrims from all around the globe at one of the largest events of the year. Related events will take place in other venues around Dublin and all over the island of Ireland. In excess of,000 pilgrims from over 00 countries are expected to attend Congress events in the RDS daily. The World Meeting of Families 08 has at its heart the following main moments: a) August, a National Opening b) - August, a four-day Congress c) Saturday August, a Festival of Families d) Sunday August, a solemn Eucharistic Celebration FOUR-DAY CONGRESS (,, & August 08) At the core of WMOF08 will be a four-day Congress at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS), Ballsbridge, one of the largest Conference Centres in Dublin. CONGRESS Each day will include an enriching programme for adults of keynote speakers, workshops, talks, testimonies and discussions; an engaging and exciting programme for young people as well as fun activities for children. The Congress will also include daily celebration of the Eucharist, prayerful activities, cultural events, musical performances and exhibitions as the hub of everyday activity. ATTENDEES Pilgrims will come from all over the world to participate in this celebratory event. Our wide-ranging programme of events is designed to engage families, adults, teenagers, young people, children, people active in their faith lives as well as anyone interested in marriage and in family life. This will be a truly cosmopolitan gathering, a global celebration of the role of Family within the Christian Faith today. The exhibition space will play an important part of the daily programme of the World Meeting of Families 08 and represents a great opportunity for faith-based organisations, charities, those working to support Catholic faith development as well as Irish culture, crafts and tourism providers to reach a huge and interested audience. With an expected attendance of over,000 people, the exhibition will be a great space for families to meet and network with other pilgrims, visit exhibits and explore the range of organisations and products on display.
