WHY CHOOSE: KAMP KERMIT? Your 4 or 5-year old child enjoys interacting with a smaller group of children and is comfortable being away from home for a half-day experience. KIDS CAMP? Your 5-10 year old child can comfortably spend the whole day away from home, enjoys being around many other children in an urban setting, likes being outdoors, or may be trying out full-day camp for the first time. CAMP WABANSI? Your 7-12 year old child is striving for independence, can handle feeling further away from home, enjoys outdoor exploration and activities, or is ready to try spending one night at camp in order to try overnight camp in the future. CAMP U-NAH-LI-YA? Your 7-17 year old child has had positive experiences away from home, is striving for independence, or is ready for an overnight camping adventure. YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is a traditional overnight camp located 65 miles north of Green Bay. 3

INTRODUCTION: Your 4-5 year old will enjoy a half day of fun, safe and healthy activities that are geared toward your child s developmental level. Thursday field trips are included in their fun-filled week. Your family is welcome to join your camper for an onsite family picnic on Friday complete with songs, skits and camper recognition. Lunch is to be provided from home for all Kamp Kermit programs. Week 1 July 9-13 Friends on the Farm Week 2 July 16-20 Magical Kingdom Week 3 July 23-27 Outdoor Explorers Week 4 July 30-August 3 Super Power Academy Week 5 August 6-10 Build & Play Tech Camp Week 6 August 13-17 Growing Gourmets Weekly camp fees: Members $105 General Public $130 *Financial Assistance is made available through contributions to the YMCA s Annual Campaign. See page 30 for more information. ACTIVITIES Kamp Kermit offers a variety of activities throughout the week. Your child will participate in group games, arts and crafts, swimming, stories and songs, creative freeplay and fitness activities. PARENT HANDBOOK Please print off a Kamp Kermit Parent Handbook at www.greenbayymca.org prior to your child s camp week. HOURS OF OPERATION Kamp Kermit runs from 8:30am to 12:30pm, Monday through Friday. DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP There is no bus service for Kamp Kermit. Parents are responsible for arranging transportation to and from camp each day. 7

KAMP KERMIT theme weeks FRIENDS ON THE FARM Week 1 July 9-13 E-I-E-I-Oh my Kamp Kermit is turning in to a pretend farm! All the crafts, stories and games promise to make you feel like you ve just made friends with the cows and chickens down on the farm. Our field trip will lead us to Heritage Hill* where we will meet the animals, do laundry and help with chores just like the old days but much more fun then we ll end our visit with a couple of old-fashioned games. MAGICAL KINGDOM Week 2 July 16-20 Whether your little camper is a prince, a princess or a knight in shining armor, we will be exploring the make-believe world of the enchanted kingdom. Our field trip will take us to Pamperin Park* where campers will be delighted by a magical show and can then use their imagination to be anything they d like. OUTDOOR EXPLORERS Week 3 July 23-27 It s a big, wide world out there! Let s check out the sights of our natural surroundings, learn about the great outdoors and navigate a scavenger hunt, all while keeping a lookout for animal tracks. Our field trip will be to explore the N.E.W. Zoo.* SUPER POWER ACADEMY Week 4 July 30-August 3 We re brave and we re bold! No villains stand a chance when they meet up with us! We ll transform ourselves into super heroes through costumes, play, and challenges. On Thursday, we ll set out to conquer the exciting world of Bay Beach Amusement Park.* BUILD & PLAY TECH CAMP Week 5 August 6-10 It s going to be a fun-filled, activitypacked camp week that introduces easyto-learn engineering concepts, building challenges and cool technology. Campers will work both individually and as a team to brainstorm and design their ideas. We will practice each day on building, testing, improving and completing the day s projects. Our field trip will take us to the Children s Museum *where the exploration continues. GROWING GOURMETS Week 6 August 13-17 We will be little chefs for the week as we create fun snacks and explore the world of yummy food! Each day s recipe will incorporate a heap of kitchen safety, a scoop of good manners, a pinch of menu planning and a bowl of laughter with new friends! Special guests will join us in Kamp Kermit to help us perfect our gourmet skills, and then we ll top it off with a field trip to a nearby restaurant* to watch some chefs in action and have a delicious lunch! 8 *Note: Field trips are subject to change based on weather and availability.

TEEN LEADERSHIP JUNIOR COUNSELOR Offered all sessions, ages 11 and up Spend a week learning leadership skills and techniques to last a lifetime. During your week as a JC, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with our counselors. Your journey in the JC program will include how to lead a group of campers, teach arts & crafts and games, and how to work in a group with your fellow JCs. If you decide to join us for more than one week of the program, you ll build upon your leadership skills by taking on a more active role and work more closely with our counselors. FORE! Week 1 June 11-15 Be on the look-out for fun as we meet new friends and take on new challenges. Campers will discover sports of all sorts this week, from baseball to soccer to football. A trip to Duck Creek Miniature Golf Center* challenges our golf skills, while group games will test our fore titude. This week s adventures will not be miniature that is for sure! ANIMAL PLANET Week 2 June 18-22 Ever been curious about the animals in your neighborhood? This week campers explore nature and learn about the creatures that call Wisconsin home. We will continue with some nature inspired games, a scavenger hunt, and crafts, like bird feeders and painting with mud paint and natural paint brushes. A field trip to Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary* caps off the fun! SLIDE INTO SUMMER Week 3 June 25-29 Summer fun is just getting started this week. We will have a blast celebrating the first full week of summer with some awesome arts and crafts projects and cool water games. We ll slide down to Bay Beach Amusement Park* to continue the fun. The start of summer has never been so exhilarating! HANG TEN! Week 5 July 9-13 The wetter, the better! The fun is all about water this week, as we get wet and wild! Be prepared to have loads of water related fun, from water balloons to water relays. We surf on down to Ashwaubomay Lake* to get even wetter. Surf s up dude! *Note: Field trips are subject to change based on weather and availability. 14

THEME WEEKS AHOY MATEY Week 6 July 16-20 Arrgh! Pirates are the name of the game this week. We will navigate the high seas with a cool scavenger hunt for treasure and learn some pirate lingo. The fun continues at Pamperin Park*, where the games will be just as exciting as the high seas. Hope you all have your sea legs! LET THE GAMES BEGIN Week 7 July 23-27 Teamwork is the challenge this week as everyone strives to be faster, higher, stronger at the KIDS Camp Olympics! Fun will be had by all as we compete in tug of war, gaga, noodle toss and many more. Everyone comes out a winner at the Olympics! LITTLE NINJAS Week 8 July 30-August 3 Get ready to kick in the fun this week! Kim s Tae Kwon Do returns to provide professional instruction, teaching campers basic tae kwon do skills. Join us for the Parent Show on Friday as the campers show off their newly acquired abilities. Hi-ya! SPLISH SPLASH Week 9 August 6-10 Who doesn t like getting wet? This week is all about water! Everyone will try to beat the heat and cool down with fun water games like drip, drip, splash, and water gaga. If that doesn t excite you, how about a trip down the giant slip n slide? An expedition to the Resch Aquatic Center* continues the excitement. No camper will go home dry! UNDER THE BIG TOP Week 10 August 13-17 Join us on the boardwalk as we have a KIDS Camp Carnival! Campers will have fun with carnival games, complete with prizes. We will also celebrate Platy s (KIDS Camp mascot) birthday! Who can say no to a birthday party? SUMMER FUN FINALE Week 11 August 20-24 It s time to say see ya later! We celebrate the end of Camp with one more week of fun. The camper s favorite activities will all be revisited this week, from games to crafts. We skate on down to Rola Rena* to create more lasting memories. Good byes are hard, but we will always have KIDS Camp! 15

JUNIOR COUNSELOR Junior Counselors are welcome to register for up to five weeks of the program. Spend a week learning leadership skills and techniques to last a lifetime. During your week as a JC, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with our counselors. Your journey in the JC program will include how to lead a group of campers, teach arts & crafts and games, and how to work in a group with your fellow JCs. If you decide to join us for more than one week of the program, you ll build upon your leadership skills by taking on a more active role and work side by side with our counselors. Summer Day Camps through the YMCA are an outstanding way to keep your child active and engaged throughout their summer break from school. Our staff focus on empowering youth with the core values of the YMCA; caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Travel to and from Green Bay is provided every day for campers attending YMCA Camp Wabansi. ABOUT OUR STAFF At the heart of the Camp Wabansi experience is our team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff. Summer staff members are selected based on their proven abilities working with children and desire to support our mission of building strong kids of solid character. All staff members are at least 18 years old and undergo extensive interviewing, reference checks, and background checks. Pre-camp training includes outdoor skills, activity planning, managing group dynamics, safety training, and child development. OUR LOCATION Located in Door County, Wisconsin, Camp Wabansi is just a short bus ride away from Green Bay. Camp is nestled in the woods on an incredible Green Bay waterfront and is equipped with modern restrooms.

TRADITIONAL CAMP Campers are placed into small groups with other campers of similar age and same gender. Campers bring their own bag lunches. Some campers sign up with a friend, and there are plenty of opportunities to make lots of new friends. Various themes and specialty camps make the camp experience different every single week. Counselors in Training (CITs) will learn fundamental leadership qualities as they engage in counselor shadowing, team-building activities, and discover how the core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility build great role models. AC s will plan and lead camp activities, assist in the Camp Store, act as a liaison for cabin groups, accompany special groups on out-of-camp trips, and work side by side with the Camp Wabansi counselors to learn what it takes to become a well-rounded staff member. AC s are selected by application and interview. Space is limited. Applications are due by June 1st. CAMP U-NAH-LI-YA programs 28 ABOUT US Owned and operated by the Greater Green Bay YMCA, Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is located near Mountain, Wisconsin about 65 miles north of Green Bay. Nestled in the Chequamegon- Nicolet National Forest, camp is situated on 140 wooded acres with three bodies of water, newly-renovated facilities, and an abundance of nature. THE VALUES OF THE YMCA The goal of YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is to empower youth with the values of the YMCA through counselor relationships in the midst of exciting outdoor experiences. ABOUT OUR STAFF At the heart of the Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya experience is our team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff. Summer staff members are selected based on their proven abilities working with children and desire to support our mission of building strong kids of solid character. All staff members are at least 18 years old and undergo extensive interviewing, reference checks, and background checks. The nice part is, we work above the standards. Each summer our counselors and managers go through over a week of training. These sessions include outdoor skills, activity planning, managing group dynamics, safety, training, and child development. They are ready and waiting for your camper to arrive.

4-DAY OVERNIGHT CAMP Ages 7-10 This introductory program allows your new camper to experience the excitement of overnight camp from Sunday through Wednesday (three nights). Campers will select a specialty area, have access to all choice activities, play all-camp games, spend time with their cabin group, visit the Camp Store, and enjoy open recreation times under the supervision of the camp staff. This program is a wonderful bridge from day camp to overnight camp. 6-DAY OVERNIGHT CAMP Ages 8-14 Our classic overnight camp experience, sixday overnight camp is full of traditions, activities, and adventure. Campers individually choose a specialty area of programming to focus on throughout the week. In addition, every camper gets to choose special activities to try around camp during choice time. The rest of the day is spent building friendships with their cabin group, visiting the Camp Store and enjoying open recreation times. Evening activities include all-camp games like Capture the Flag, skits, s mores around the campfire, and a tent camping experience on Wednesday night. EXTREME TEEN ADVENTURES Ages 12-14 The perfect introduction to the world of high adventure outdoor recreation in America s great Northwoods. Tailored for adventure seekers ages 12-14 and designed to grow your camper s character. Each has a specific intensity level and run in one week durations. Whether your camper is a first timer or they are ready for the most physically demanding camps, we have a program that is great for your kid. These camps are specialized adventure programs that fill up fast! You ll want to register as early as possible to secure your spot. EXCURSION TRIPS Ages 14-17 For our oldest and most seasoned campers. These trips are tailored for campers ages 14-17 and have a variety of intensity levels. Our experienced staff act as guides; facilitating high adventure with an emphasis on leadership and teamwork. These camps are two weeks in duration and offer a unique opportunity for campers to engage the wilderness like never before. These camps are specialized adventure programs that fill up fast! If appropriate written notice is provided, you will receive a refund minus: Day Camp: $25 cancellation fee (per child/per week) Overnight Camp: $100 non-refundable deposit (per child/per session) Cancellations should be sent directly to the Camp Director. No refunds will be given with less than a two-week notice. HEALTH FORMS Health forms are required and must be submitted to camp at least 2 weeks prior to your child s camp session. The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families requires that each participant s immunization and health history be on file at the site in case of emergency. CAMP FEES The fee for your first week of camp is due in full at the time of registration (overnight camp requires $100 deposit only). If you are registering for overnight camp or multiple weeks of day camp, you may choose to draft the remaining balance on June 1st, 2018 or in smaller increments each month (all fees must be paid prior to your camper s session). You must arrange for automatic credit card or bank draft payment at the time of registration. YMCA membership is not required for participation. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Everybody belongs at Y Camp. The YMCA provides membership and program services to anyone regardless of their ability to pay.
