CHALLENGES COMSHIP is only being implemented in nine (9) COMESA Member States, there is need for more resources in the other COMESA Member States, namely Madagascar, Swaziland, Sudan, Egypt, Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, Eritrea, Mauritius and Djibouti. COMESA Member States are slow in the alignment of their National Seed Laws / Regulations to the COMESA Seed Trade Harmonization Regulations Lack of awareness by Seed Companies on operations of the COMESA Variety Catalogue
CONCLUSIONS Significant activities implemented on the COMSHIP,. the pace needs to increase to meet growing pop. There is need to popularize the COMESA Variety Catalogue through sensitization workshops Training to the NSAs and Seed Companies on the operations of the COMESA Variety Catalogue by ACTESA is needed COMESA would like to test the system as soon as possible this year as the COMESA Seed Certificates and labels will also be in place
THANK YOU
