ATC Simulators The manufacturer of

Edda Systems AS Established in 2005, by 5 experienced ATM engineers (ex Avinor) 100% owned by the employees/founders Edda Systems AS is specialized in CNS/ATM systems, tele- and data communication The main focus areas are: ATC simulators Consultancy services within the ATM domain The ecoach simulator portfolio is our main product Located in Spikkestad outside Oslo.

The utilization of the common available airspace gets higher and inevitably more complex. Maintaining and optimizing the use of airspace then becomes increasingly important. The ecoach Airspace Planner, offers the ability to design, simulate, optimize and evaluate airspace all in one tool

The ecoach Airspace Planner Design, modify and test new airspace (SID, STAR, IAP, ATS routes etc.) Uses BADA aircraft performance data Advanced simulation capabilities Graphical presentation of aircraft profile and trajectory Calculates fuel consumption and track miles Contains a script tool to automate simulator behavior and response. E.g. script can automate pilot commands or automate setup of simulator exercises Module for presentation of noise distribution on the ground

The ecoach Airspace Planner (II) Windows based HMI - intuitive and easy to use HMI can be adapted to customer needs upon request The system can be delivered as a fully portable system The Airspace Planner working position can use a wide variety of displays e.g. 2k X 2k, HD-displays etc. A standard setup contains two high resolution displays (30 and 24 ) Log of all flights containing flight plan information, route, overflown waypoints, flight events, pilot commands (also automated), track miles, fuel consumption etc. Standard System Configuration

ecoach Airspace Planner The Components

Airspace Planner Components The ecoach Airspace Planner contains several components: AES (ATC Environment Simulator) This software component is responsible for simulating aircraft movement and behavior ATCS (ATC System Component) This software component contains processing contained in RDPS and FDPS subsystems Exercise Designer For creating and maintaining exercises Pilot interface HMI to control individual flights during simulation Noise Module (Optional) Graphic presentation of noise generated by aircrafts

ATC Environment Simulator (AES) Flights can be flown on full automation as well as hand flown Several option for automation of flights Automatic generation of flight plan, coordination messages and MET messages A common flight plan database ( library ) can be used as basis for several exercises Flight plan templates makes reuse of flights easy No limits to number of exercises or environments (disk size)

Exercise Designer (ED) Exercise preparation: Front-end to AES (ATC Environment Simulator) Built-in AES Aircraft route based on ICAO flight plan Setup MET messages (METAR, UWT) Build route directly on display Display and modify flight plan trajectory and profile Import and export airspace data using AIXM Airspace sectorization including sector load calculations Exercise simulation/dry-running: Run exercise on Designer workstation Change role between Pseudo Pilot/ Controller Working Position/Designer Fast-time/real-time simulation (incl statistics) Run/Pause/Stop/Start at time Can run on a laptop and does not have to be connected to simulator (office/home/cabin) Create and change airspace

Pseudo Pilot (PP) Flexible HMI with multiple input methods: Input via track label Via Pilot Window Via Aircraft Window Speed keys HMI is designed to keep attention on the radar display Queue commands Display planned route Flight ownership Track label content is configurable

Noise Distribution Module (Option) Calculates noise distribution on ground from aircrafts: Single aircraft (based on trajectory and profile) Multiple aircrafts (based on trajectory and profile) From an exercise Algorithm developed by SINTEF (largest research institute in Scandinavia) Graphical display of information on ATC background map Easy to use. Assess the impact of arrival and departure flow immediately

Why ecoach Airspace Planner? The ecoach Airspace Planner is a tool that combines an ATC simulator with the ability to create, design, simulate and evaluate airspace all in one tool. This enables rapid prototyping and evaluation of different airspace scenarios and variations Efficient evaluation of proposed modifications Significantly reduces the need for costly external system simulations Uses BADA aircraft performance data Graphical presentation of aircraft profile and trajectory Calculates fuel consumption, track miles, sector load etc. Noise Distribution Module Easy to learn and easy to use Cost beneficial - Time saving

Thank You! Airspace Planner
