Info Packet

Rise Winter Camp 2019 Dear Parents and Students: Our annual Winter Camp is coming! Last year, this was an incredible event! We saw the lives of our students change, and we are fully expecting to see that again. For this camp, we spend the weekend at Quaker Hill Camp in beautiful McCall and have a blast learning, playing, and eating together. This is one of the best experiences that we put on all year, and we would love to have your student join us. Of course, we want to make sure you are well aware of what is happening. This packet should have everything you need. If you need anything else, though, always feel free to call, email, text, fax, or send a postcard to us. We always love hearing from parents. The Details Dates and Times: Winter Camp runs February 1-3, 2019. We will meet at Eagle Christian Church at 4:00 PM (Feb 1) so we can get out of here by 5 PM! Please plan on arriving by 4:00 for Registration. We will return on Sunday (Feb 3) at 12:00 PM to the Eagle Christian Church parking lot. Place: Winter camp is taking place at Quaker Hill Camp in beautiful McCall, ID! Cost: $125 for those registered by January 6. $150 after that. There is a $50 deposit due with each sign up. Registration: To register for camp, you need to do three things: (a) register online on the Middle School or High School pages at www.eaglechristianchurch.com, (b) fill out a next:gen Medical Release form, and (c) pay a $50 deposit in cash or check (make out checks to Eagle Christian Church. ) Arrangements: Our students will stay in dorms at Quaker Hill. Guys and Girls will have their own dorms, and adult leaders will serve as counselors/leaders in the dorms. What to Bring: See the attached Student Details for info on camp rules, what to bring, and what not to bring!

The Theme Our theme for winter camp each year is simply Rise. Ultimately, we want to challenge our students to RISE up and take their faith seriously. To live it out at home, at school, and on their teams every single day. We want them to rise up and become the man or woman God is calling them to become. This year, our speaker, camp devos, and weekend will focus on the book of Philippians as we explore what Paul has to say about how to rise in our faith. God is calling your student to amazing things, and our aim is to help them step into whatever He is calling them to in any way that we can help. We are so excited about Winter Camp! Check out the rest of this packet for more info! To see the recap video from last year, and too see how amazing winter camp really is, check the link on our social media and the youth pages on the website! The Camp We will be visiting Quaker Hill in McCall, ID. This camp offers a wide range of activities, and you will have free time to take advantage of these. Quaker Hill also offers an indoor area for board games, ping pong, pool, foosball, and more. In addition to that, we will have all of our normal Wednesday night activities available like gaga ball, 9- square, and more. Weather permitting, there will be hiking, snow tubing, an optional trip to either downtown McCall or the hot springs, yard games, Frisbee golf, and more! In addition to that, we ll be providing lots of great worship times, teaching, and lots of time to hang out, be together, and have fun. There will not be a single dull moment at camp this year! The Speaker/Band If you ve been to one of our Wednesday night youth groups, whether in high school or middle school, you know we have some of the best musicians in the valley leading us in worship every week. At camp, it s like that, but even better. We have an absolutely killer band for camp this year.

Our speaker for camp is Derek Voorhees. Derek is the President of Boise Bible College, and he has a heart for helping students live out God s kingdom in their lives. Derek will be bringing some incredibly relevant and helpful lessons all weekend! What to Bring We recommend you bring the following things: Bible (printed copy, please!), pen, and notebook Pillow and sleeping bag (there is no bedding provided) Sunscreen (yes, even in the Winter!) Warm jacket Warm clothes Beanie, gloves, hat Rain gear Pajamas Underwear and socks Towel and toiletries Lip balm Close-toed shoes or snow boots Flashlight Water bottle Medications (These will be turned in to the camp nurse!) Optional Items Guitars or musical instruments Basketballs, footballs, soccer balls other sports equipment Extra spending money Snowboards or skiis What Not to Bring Dangerous or illegal substances (drugs, alcohol, firearms, fireworks, etc.) Small pocket knives are allowed...we ask that the blade be less than 4 long. Electronics (Video games, ipods, MP3 players, etc.)

Expensive items Note: Students who bring dangerous or illegal substances may be sent home at the discretion of the ECC youth ministry staff. Parents will be responsible for covering the cost of a student s transportation home. Transportation We will be driving one or two charter buses up to camp this year. If you need to make arrangements to arrive late or leave early, please have your parents contact a member of the youth team. Unless arrangements have been made, students are not permitted to drive their vehicles to Winter Camp. Meals Quaker Hill will provide three meals on Saturday and one meal on Sunday. We will serve students dinner before leaving Eagle Christian Church on Friday. We will allow students to bring extra snack food provided they are picking up trash and keeping it tidy. If you have allergy concerns, please contact one of the youth staff ASAP. Please do not bring snacks containing peanuts. Medical Issues We will have a Registered Nurse on site to administer medications, assess basic medical needs, and make initial assessments. The camp location is near McCall and near more advanced medical care, if needed. To ensure safety, outdoor activities will be monitored by camp staff or next:gen staff. Mail Due to the short length of the camp, we advise not having mail sent to your student at camp this year! If you would like to send up a surprise item for your student, please make arrangements with the youth staff by January 30.
