A Message from Our President Dec., 2015 My fellow Fagowees, As I write this it's "No Shave November". I did this last year. I shaved my face completely to see how much it would grow in a month. Then I kept going through ski season. I got a lot of positive comments about it and decided to keep it. A year later in it's getting pretty long. I don't know how much more I'll let it grow, but I don't plan on shaving it off for a while. There was a "study" posted on the Internet that said beards have more poo in them than a toilet. It turns out that there was a girl who didn't like her boyfriend's beard and made the whole thing up so he would shave it off. He found out and told her that the beard was there long before her and would be around long after her. Then he dumped her. Here are a few facts about beards you may find interesting. Note that I found these on the Internet so some of them may be as made up as the poo study. Men who shave spend roughly 3,350 hours of their life in the bathroom. Pogonophobia is the fear of beards. There are around 30,000 whiskers on a man's face. 55% of men from the around world can be seen sporting a beard or facial hair. The average mustache will trap a pint and a half of beer ever single year. In the past 25 years, there have been 5 scientific studies involving the attractiveness of beards. They found that men with beards are more 2/3 more attractive while women with beards are less attractive. Beards help prevent skin cancer on your face. They also act like a filter so they protect you from pollen and other allergens. Facial hair grows faster during the day - and during the summer. Beards can increase your overall strength by 27%. Chuck Norris beard once had a fight with Bruce Lee, and won. Bearded men have, on average, the most attractive wives in the world. In regards to that last fact. By the time you read this I will be married to our beautiful membership chair - Laurie McCombs. I think she might be marrying me for my beard. Bill
