BARWON VALLEY ACTIVITY CENTRE 2015/16 ANNUAL REPORT The Barwon Valley Activity Centre (BVAC) is a unique Geelong venue, with its ability to provide weekly sports competitions and programs for senior and junior levels across a range of indoor sports. It is also an ideal venue and optimal surrounds for expo's, fairs and community markets, including the Belmont Market, which operates every Sunday. 2015/16 was another positive year for the venue and achieved some of its best results to date. The venue has seen 8,367 total hours of competitions, programs and activities take place across a number of participation opportunities. Senior Futsal competitions continued to operate at capacity while junior competitions were a key area that experienced significant growth. This was associated with the summer seasons increasing mid week after school competitions availability across all age groups to meet demands. The Belmont Market also achieved its best results for the third straight year with a 19.4% increase in stallholder attendance on the previous year. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS KEY INITIATIVES > Belmont Market had 7,996 stallholder attendance in 2015/16. 19.4% increase from 2014/15. > Belmont Market online booking and payment system developed and introduced. > Futsal competitions at the venue had 233 teams register in 2015/16. 47% increase on the previous year. > Venue usage increased by 57% from the previous year. > Venue upgrades; stage two of the light fitting replacement with courts two and three having energy efficient LED systems installed. > Belmont Market way finding signage, site plans and precinct maps developed. > Installation of LED lighting to the courts resulting in a 32% reduction in CO2 emissions. > Belmont Market online booking system developed and implemented (June 2016). > New user groups to the venue Barwon Dodgeball and Elite Taekwondo both become regular venue users.

BVAC FUTSAL TEAMS EVENTS IN 2015/16 BVAC s location, indoor and outdoor open space areas, accessibility, ample parking and high traffic location allows for a wide range of events and programs such as markets, expos, fairs and sporting events to be help on site. Some of the successful events in hosted at the venue outside of regular weekly competitions or programs were... > Geelong Baby & Children s market > Geelong Roller Derby bouts > Cricket Victoria Junior Trials THE BELMONT MARKET Futsal Geelong competitions and programs are managed and delivered in-house by the City of Greater Geelong, and is affiliated with the Football Federation Victoria - the governing body of the sport in Victoria. In 2015/16, BVAC had a total of 233 teams registered (Summer 145 Teams/ Winter 88 teams) which is approximately 1,630 futsal players from across the Geelong region. Across the year, venue staff organised, managed and delivered a total of 2,128 games or 85,120 mintues of futsal programs, competitions and activities. This graph represents the trend of registered Futsal senior and junior teams participating at the venue over the past five years. The Belmont Market is managed and delivered by the BVAC team at the City of Greater Geelong since taking over its ownership, management and delivery in 2006. Since the 1970's, the Belmont Market has been a favourite among locals and visitors to the Geelong region. It's not only Geelong's largest garage sale, but it has also been a launch pad for many local start-up businesses. In 2015-16, the Belmont Market had 7,996 indoor and outdoor sites sold. This is up from 6,696 sold in 2014-15 (19.41% increase). 103 In June 2016, the Belmont Market launched its new online booking system.
