Alaska Cruise/Land Tour Additional Information June 26: Flight from Salt Lake (or other gateway city) to Seattle or Vancouver. Transfer to the ship in Vancouver which is the beautiful Sapphire Princess. June 27: Full day cruising toward the protected waterway known as the Inside Passage with spectacular views on both sides of the ship. Relax and become familiar with the ship. Enjoy entertainment and delicious cuisine on board. June 28: Port of Call in Ketchikan where you can experience Alaska s native culture, view the sheer granite cliffs, see 1,000 foot waterfalls, enjoy crystalline lakes, go salmon fishing or take a float plane ride into Misty Fjords National Park. There is always PLENTY to do in Alaska. June 29: Port of Call in Juneau, home to some of Alaska s most spectacular scenery. Visit Mendenhall Glacier, go salmon fishing, whale watching, enjoy the town or choose from other options. June 30: Port of Call in Skagway born to support the rush to the goldfields. Ride the Whitehorse Railroad, visit the gold-rush camps, kayak in the eagle-inhabited lakes, enjoy the lush forests and hanging glaciers or wander the boardwalks of the town and enjoy the shops. July 1: We ll spend most of the day cruising in spectacular Glacier Bay National Park. It is one of the highlights of the trip. These are Alaska s most famous glaciers. Listen closely as glacier calving (large pieces of ice breaking off into the sea) is a common occurrence. Naturalists on board will provide interesting commentary. July 2: Scenic cruising in the Northern Gulf. Includes three hours in the famous College Fjords, scenic mountain-flanked fjords named after Ivy League colleges. STUNNING! Continue north in the afternoon. July 3: Arrive in Whittier. Walk on to Princess s private domed rail car for our scenic train ride around the Turnagain Arm, through the Coastal Range and into the charming town of Talkeetna. Stay in the quiet wilderness lodge with full views of Mt. McKinley (nature permitting). Those interested can enjoy the town or take a jet boat ride on the Susitna River (with lovely views of wilderness, wildlife and Mt. McKinley). July 4: Interesting motor coach ride this morning to Denali National Park (about 3 hours away). In the early afternoon, we ll board the park buses for an interesting Natural History Tour of Denali National Park with hoped-for views of Mt. McKinley (from the other side and UP CLOSE) and varied wildlife. We ll stay this evening in the beautiful Princess Wilderness Lodge just outside of Denali Park. Optional shows are available tonight. July 5: We transfer into Fairbanks this morning. Upon arrival, we ll enjoy an orientation tour of the area including a stop to see and learn about the Alaskan Pipeline. After lunch, we ll board the Discovery Sternwheeler as it takes us down the Chena River. We ll see Susan Bucher and her champion dogs and stop at an authentic (and very interesting) Athabascan Village. This activity is a MUST while in Fairbanks. Evening is free (optional salmon bake available). July 6: Transfer to the Fairbanks Airport for our flight home. While on land, we stay at the following EXCELLENT lodges: Talkeetna Mt. McKinley Wilderness Lodge Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge (or similar) All of these lodges can be viewed online at Princesslodges.com. Princess uses these lodges in most cases. If not available, comparable lodges may be substituted. Information about shore excursions available at the different ports of call will be sent to cruise participants in March. We will offer PRIVATE SHORE EXCURSIONS for our group featuring the best each port has to offer (in our opinion). If you are interested in cancellation/interruption insurance it is available for $149-$199 per person and can be purchased up to the time of your final payment. Registration Information: To make a reservation, simply fill out the attached reservation form and send it to us with a deposit of $450 per person. When we receive your deposit, we will mail you a receipt confirming that you are registered for the tour. A letter with instructions, hotel address, flight information and more will be sent be sent 90 days prior to departure at which time the balance will be due. You do not need to pay the balance until after you receive that packet. We require final payments in the form of a check. If that is not possible, arrangements can be made to use a credit card. Webb Tours accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover for tour deposits. Cancellation Penalties We understand that you may need to cancel your trip for whatever reason. If it is 76 days or more before departure, all money will be refunded. If it is within 75 days, we will charge you only what the cruise line charges us. If cancellation occurs between 75 days and 31 days prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit. If it is within 30 days of departure, additional penalties (up to the total amount) will apply. For airlines, specifically, tickets are generally non refundable when purchased. However, most airlines will allow the value of the canceled tickets to be reused for future travel, though a penalty may be assessed to reuse the tickets. If you have to cancel, Webb Tours will work with other providers to obtain as much refund as possible for our travelers. Our travelers know us to be very fair in this regard. Cancellation Insurance: Cancellation insurance is also available should you be interested. The insurance provider that we us is a company called Travelex. You can learn about them at www.travelexinsurance.com. With this insurance, most of your money will be returned to you in case you have to cancel for covered reasons (illness or death of an immediate family member) at the last minute. The price for the insurance varies based on the price of the trip and the age of the participant (at the time the insurance is purchased). JUNEAU: Combination tour including a visit to stunning Mendenhall Glacier (visiting the interpretive center there) followed by admission to the very interesting and beautiful Glacier Gardens. Believe it or not, you are in a rain forest, and the scenery here is lush, colorful and very creative. We are in Juneau until 9:00 in the evening so there is plenty of time for shopping, whale watching or a myriad of other options. SKAGWAY: GOLD! This is the gateway to the gold fields and we ll enjoy a scenic ride over beautiful Whitehorse Pass into the Yukon Territory of Canada. The scenery is magnificent and we ll make several stops along the way to see waterfalls, mountain vistas or wildlife. Upon returning to town, we have tickets to the famous Days of 98 Revue telling the story of Soapy Smith, Skagway s most famous con man. You ll then still have half a day to relax, wander the boardwalk streets or book an additional excursion through the ship.
