Great Fun! Great Value! At the Y, summer camp is an enjoyable, exciting experience for your child, and flexible and convenient for you. JUST LOOK AT ALL WE OFFER Our camp day is scheduled with age-appropriate activities from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Plus, we re open for before and after care from 7am to 9am and 5pm to 6pm at no add additional cost. That s 11 hours of care daily! FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE/ DSS SUBSIDY We offer financial assistance for those who need help to afford summer camp. We also accept DSS subsidy. CREATE YOUR ADVENTURE It s summer the way you want it. Customize your summer with Create A Camp! Your child will choose between active, art and outdoor activities to create their perfect summer. e Choose your path: campers will keep moving with a sports based focus. Art campers will explore their creativity with themed based art activities. Outdoor campers will breathe the fresh air at the William Hill Park. Our camps meet the highest health and safety standards of the YMCA and the NYS Health Department. Our hand picked staff are trained in First Aid, CPR, pool safety, heat and sun safety, age-appropriate activities, conflict resolution, rainy day play and more! Our camper to counselor ratios follow best practices, with ratios from 1 counselor to 6 campers and pool ratios from 1 to 3 (for non-swimmers) to 1 to 8 (for deep end swimmers) There are always two certified lifeguards on deck when we re in the pool. That s why we ask all campers to be respectful to themselves, other campers, and our staff. To ensure the safety of all those in our care, a camper whose behavior poses a risk to safety may be removed from camp. PHOTOS & VIDEOS To help share the fun of summer camp, we do use photographs and videos that feature children from our camps for promotional material.
WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP Camper Essentials Backpack Large, sturdy backpack with your child s name on it. Swimsuit & Towel A plastic bag for wet swimsuit & towel along with goggles, if you child needs them. Meals During weeks 1-9, Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack will be provided by the Summer Food Program. During week 10, you will need to bring a lunch that does not need to be refrigerated. Complete Change of Clothing Baseball hat or visor Water Bottle Filled with water. Sunscreen Sweatshirt It can sometimes get chilly during the day. Please add your child s name to everything they bring to camp. Also, please have your child dress appropriately for outdoor play. Please send your child in sneakers everyday. To help your child take full advantage of all that we have to offer, please leave these items at home: Personal toys Electronic equipment, including cell phones, and gaming devices Trading or game cards
WEEKLY CAMP THEMES Weeks 1-5 Week 1 June 25-29 Luau Bash Looking to kick off summer with a sizzle? Join us as we heat things up Hawaiian Style! Track: Soccer Wacky Wednesday: Hawaiian Day Week 2 July 2-6 Party in the USA We will be celebrating Independence Day with banners, flags, patriotic songs and games. We will explore what makes America great and create all things RED, WHITE & BLUE! Track: Baseball Wacky Tuesday: Red, White, & Blue Day Field Trip: Recreation Park & Laurel Bowl Week 3 July 9-13 The Superhero in You Campers will have a chance to discover their own super human abilities while reenacting their favorite superheroes of all time. Kindness, bravery, strength and trustworthiness are just a few of the many super powers your child may discover! Track: Flag Football Wacky Wednesday: Super Hero Day Week 4 July 16-20 Splishin and Splashin Get ready to celebrate what makes summer truly a blast: Water balloons, slip n slides, and cool tasty treats! Come prepared to get wet as we try and BEAT THE HEAT! Track: Basketball Wacky Wednesday: Sunglasses Day Field Trip to the Rumble Ponies stadium for splash day Week 5 July 23-27 Shake and Bake Shake some fun onto your cooking skills while we bake some delicious treats that encourage healthy eating. And while we re at it, we ll sprinkle some measuring skills on top! Track: Functional fitness exercises Wacky Wednesday: Moustache Day
WEEKLY CAMP THEMES Weeks 6-10 Week 6 July 30-Aug 3 Wonderful World of Magic Come take a tour of your favorite Disney tales, learn about the characters, movies, attractions and even some secrets only true Disney fans know! Track: Lacrosse Wacky Wednesday: Crazy Hat Day Field trip to Skate Estate. Week 7 Aug 6-10 Animal Planet Do you love animals? Campers will enjoy learning fascinating facts about our world s animals while we enjoy animal creations, animal treats, crab walk, bunny hop races and more! Track: Kickball Wacky Wednesday: Pajama Day Week 8 Aug 13-17 VIP Superstars From style to stage, campers will take part in activities that any mini-rock star would enjoy (no guitars will be harmed in this process). Get ready to hit superstar status! Track: Floor Hockey Wacky Wednesday: Crazy Hair Day Field trip to Skate Estate. Week 9 Aug 20-24 Olympic Spirit Week Ready...Set.GO! Campers will use their skills to play hard, to create masterpieces and to go for the gold with some fun competitions! Track: Olympic Sports Wacky Wednesday: Crazy Socks Day Week 10 Aug 27 31 Every Day s a Holiday Valentine s Day, Easter and Halloween in the summer You may have to come to camp as we end our summer to find out about all our summer celebrations. Camp will provide the fun and you bring the energy for a full week of holiday cheer! We will definitely give thanks for a great summer, making awesome friends and for making amazing memories!
