FACT SHEET FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OPERATION White Village operates from the 1 st of April until the 31 st of October each season. LOCATION The White Village rests in the upper side of Lachania, a beautiful picturesque village located southwest at the foot of the mountains that occupy the interior of the island, offering a panoramic view of the valleys stretching up to the sea. Its picture postcard setting, remoteness and tranquility give Lachania a special charm all of its own. It retains its traditional village centre with narrow streets, jostling traditional houses, many of which have been lovingly restored to their former glory. Most of the well -maintained traditional houses have been bought by foreigners (mainly Germans) or else by people from Rhodes town, who are discriminating enough to appreciate the village and have settled here, creating a youthful and artistic community. Platanos traditional tavern is located in Lachania, while other suggested restaurants and bars are only 10-15 min drive from White Village at Kiotari & Gennadi Villages. The village is easily accessible by car, located 73 km from the city of Rhodes and 76 km from Diagoras International Airport. Parking for all types of vehicles is available on site free of charge. THE CONCEPT Since the Village has been known for years as the meeting point of artists from all over Europe, the aim of the architects was to orchestrate a complex array of interior and exterior spaces, which would harmonically combine tradition with minimalist and modern facilities. While giving an intense attention to detail through decorating ideas, the property laid out on 1500 m2, adapted unique elements from the village and enriched them through innovative inspirations. Therefore, the design intention was to seamlessly blend the structure of White Village Hotel into the texture of the existing traditional village.
ACCOMMODATION On balconies overlooking the Aegean, the twelve Villas of White Village share the same taste of elegance and style, while each house maintains an individual ambiance depending on its different decorating touches. All bedrooms contain luxurious COCO-MAT mattresses and luxury items such as of fine linen, towels, and natural bath amenities. Specially executed forged-cement technique has been used in many parts of the interior of the Villas giving aesthetically the feeling of Aegean architecture. The Villas offer spacious and comfortable living rooms with soft couches and fire place on one side and a fully equipped kitchen on the other side, both being elegantly separated by different levels as well as a beautiful arch in the middle of the room. Traditional style sitting areas are set on a large elevated wooden platform, called by locals sofas or pataros, while in an effort to retain the image of the old village houses, white washed reeds with wooden beams have been used for the living room s ceiling. Two-bedroom Villa (4 pax): Two large Suites accommodating four people, with living room, fireplace and kitchen, located on the upper floor with two bedrooms and two bathrooms sharing beautiful sea and mountain views from the windows and balconies. 103 m² Two-bedroom Villa with pool (4 pax): Six Villas for four people each with private terrace and outdoor pool. They consist of an open plan ground floor with living room and fire place, kitchen and most of them also provide an elevated traditional sitting area set on a wooden platform. Two bedrooms with magnicificent sea and mountain view offered from their windows and balconies on the first floor. They all have two bathrooms with either a large shower, bath tub or both. Some of the Villas offer a separate entrance for each floor. 130 m² Family Villa with pool (6 pax): Two family Villas for six people with private terrace and outdoor pool. It consists of an open plan ground floor with living room, one traditional double bed raised on an elevated wooden platform, fireplace and kitchen. It consists of an open plan ground floor with living room, fireplace and kitchen. One bedroom is located on the ground floor and one bathroom with large shower. The second floor has two bedrooms with sea and mountain view from their balconies and one bathroom with bath tub. 160 m² Two-bedroom Villa with Hot Tub (4 pax): One Villa for four people with private terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi. It consists of an open plan ground floor with living room, fireplace and kitchen. WORTH-SEEING This unique part of the island has an abundance of such beautiful and unexplored places, such as lush valleys, beautiful villages and isolated chapels dedicated to the saints and scenery that will take your breath away. Magano Museum, the production of olive oil, located in the Village of Lachania. Lindos village, one of the most popular destinations on the island and very well known for its particular style of architecture called Arhontiko as well as the majestic Acropolis of Lindos, is located only 20 km east from Lachania and is easily accessible by car. Prasonisi, on the very edge of the island, the very famous paradise for windsurfers and kite surfers during summer time, is located only 15 min drive south of Lachania. Over the years, Prasonisi has become the number one windsurfing spot and meeting point in Europe. Prasonisi is the Greek word for "Green Island" and consists of two bays, the eastern and the western, in the middle of which rests a magnificent sandy beach which by separating these, makes the landscape look absolutely fantastic. The eastern side of Prasonisi is ideal for swimming, while you can take your first steps in windsurfing. The west side remains mostly wavy and that is why it is considered appropriate and suitable for experienced and professional surfers. Organised surf stations exist and provide full services. The beautiful Monastery of Panagia Skiadeni (Virgin Mary the Shade casting ), is located only 20 min drive southwest from Lachania.The hill is called Skiadi ( skiadi = shady place). The monastery was founded around 1200, but the buildings that exist today date back to the 18th century, except for the chapel in the churchyard, which dates back to 1640. On the walls of the monastery of Panagia Skiadeni ancient marbles are embedded. Archaeologists believe that they come from a temple of Artemis, which pre-existed in that location. During the Lent period, the icon of Panagia Skiadeni is paraded in a procession that goes through all the villages of Rhodes. On 8th September there is a great feast in the monastery, where, besides the Rhodians, many people from Chalki also come flocking. Monolithos, a picturesque and historical village located 35 min southwest of Lachania, is guarded by the famous and unique Monolithos Castle dated in 1476. Monolithos is unique being the only place in Rhodes where visitors can enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful landscape which combines mountains, hillsides, and beaches, pine forests, historic monasteries scattered throughout the forests, a historical castle and fortress associated with fascinating history and legends. Monolithos name was derived from the huge isolated rock ( mono one,
lithos rock) that the Castle is built on, watching over the Southern Aegean waters since the 15th century, A.D. DIRECTIONS TO WHITE VILLAGE The island of Rhodes is shaped like a spearhead, 79.7 km (49.5 mi) long and 38 km (24 mi) wide, with a total area of approximately 1,400 square kilometers (541 sq mi) and a coastline of approximately 220 km (137 mi). Lachania village is easily accessible by car and is located 73km from the city of Rhodes and 76 km from Diagoras International Airport. During season, from April October, many European cities offer direct flights to Rhodes. Alternatively, there are frequent domestic flights from Athens or Thessaloniki to the island throughout the year as well as a fast ferry service from Piraeus to the port of Rhodes. Free Transfer is available from the Airport only upon request. Transport by taxi or hire car from Rhodes airport or port is possible and best arranged at the time of booking the accommodation. Upon exiting the airport grounds (direction Rhodes Town) keep to your right and follow the signs to Faliraki and Lindos. This road leads you to the main Rhodes-Lindos route. Follow it until you reach a junction with traffic lights that only allow you to turn right. This will put you on the main Rhodes-Lindos dual carriage way and take you southward along the east coast of the island towards Lindos. After passing Kalathos, approx. 6km before the town of Lindos, pay attention: turn right when you see signs for Lardos, Kiotari and Gennadi and stay on this road until you reach Gennadi. White Village is now only 8km away. Follow the signs for Lachania and Katavia, and then, as soon as you turn right towards Lachania start following the signs for the White Village Hotel.
