November 2018 Dixie Valve Chatter Page 2 Director s Message Don McClair Our November 11 th meeting will once again be held at the Olive Garden Restaurant located on Holcomb Bridge about a half mile west of Ga 400. There is some important things to discuss at this meeting along with the voting for the officers for the upcoming years of 2019 and 2020. I encourage you to attend this very important meeting. Also, if you would like to hold on of the officer positions for the upcoming term please let your voice be heard as nominations will be accepted from the floor. I promise that with the items to be discussed that this meeting will run in the same time frame as previous meetings. Weather permitting please drive your Classic Buick and we will try to park next to one another on the side row at the restaurant. It is always fun at the meetings to converse, swap tales and war stories with fellow members and check out one another s cars. I look forward to seeing you there. Don

November 2018 Dixie Valve Chatter Page 3 Sonomatic Sounds, an editorial Tom Lynde Greetings, With Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and the Holiday Season quickly approaching, our lives are going to be getting a lot busier. Let s be sure to take time to be thankful for the important things in our lives. I am sure that most, if not all of us know someone who was affected by the recent hurricane that struck the Gulf Coast and Southwest Georgia. My brother is a resident of Port St Joe and was fortunate in that his home did not sustain damage. One of my high school friends and her husband live in Panama City. Their home did sustain heavy damage. They are car enthusiasts and their recently completed shop came crashing down around their two Plymouth Prowlers. I say around the cars, because while the shop was totaled the debris did not hit the cars. They survived virtually unscathed. The storm, its aftermath, and the approaching holidays all serve to remind us of that which is most important: Our family and friends, our neighbors and fellow men I will close by saying let us get those Buicks out and enjoy them. Go leaf peeping, apple picking and while the cars are warmed up, drive them to the monthly chapter meeting. Happy Buicking, Tom Grit in the Gearbox Quotable Quotations

November 2018 Dixie Valve Chatter Page 4 November Chapter Meeting. The November chapter meeting will be held November 11th at the Olive Garden, 905 Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell. Plan to meet for lunch around 12:30 and the business meeting will begin around 2:00 pm. Don t forget to wear your name tag! Officer Elections The Nominating Committee gave their report at the October chapter meeting. The following members have been placed in nomination for offices to serve two year terms beginning in January, 2019. Bob Stone for Director, JD Westfall for Assistant Director, Jerry Richstein for Treasurer, Bill McGowen for Secretary, and Tom Lynde for Newsletter Editor. As per the bylaws, nominations will be accepted from the floor prior to the vote. The election of officers will take place during the November Chapter meeting. Buicks flocking together. November 2018 Dixie Valve Chatter Page 5 Dixie Chapter at the Arbors Car Show Just a thank you for bringing your collector cars to the "Arbors @ Bridgemill" this last Saturday. I know we brought back some memories and put smiles on the faces of the residents who were able to come out to look the cars over. We met some very nice people, all of whom thanked us for displaying our cars. Personally this is the kind of a "car show" I really enjoy and from the comments we heard, you apparently agreed? We were pleasantly surprised with the unexpected arrival of a beautiful 1969 Morgan owned by Richard Brandes and a 1957 Lincoln Continental owned by Kelley Knox which nicely rounded out our 13 car display. The other 11 cars (by year model) were 1936 Buick Special (Bruce & Shar Kile), 1937 Buick Special (Dan & Barbara Gallagher), 1948 Buick Super Convertible. (Ernest Garrett), 1965 Mustang Convertible. (Jeff & Janet House), 1967 Buick Wildcat Convertible (J.D. Westfall), 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner (Beep! Beep!) (Lee Fragnoli), 1975 Buick LeSabre Convertible. (Shar & Bruce Kile), 1976 Buick LeSabre Coupe. (Jack & Pat Horvath), 1979 Mustang Indy Pace Car (Terry Trusdell), 1985 Buick Rivera Convertible and 1990 Buick Reatta Coupe (Jerry & Jean Richstein). Although the weather was "H O T ", we think you will agree that "HOT" is better than rain for a car show. Oh, another BIG thank you to Janice Kimber and the staff at "The Arbors" for inviting us, their kind hospitality & for the tasty lunch too. Maybe we can do it again next year? Kindest Regards & God Bless Shar & Bruce Kile Text by Bruce Kyle. Photos by Jack and Pat Horvath
