Introduction After each decennial census, all legislative districts are realigned according to population. Contained in this book are statewide maps of congressional, legislative, Ohio Court of Appeals and State Board of Education districts. Also included is information regarding the population of each county and legislative district. The number of Ohio representatives to Congress was reduced from 19 to 18 as a result of 2000 census population figures. New congressional districts were drawn based upon these figures by joint action of the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. The governor signed the new congressional districts into law. The Ohio Apportionment Board, in accordance with the United States Constitution, the Ohio Constitution and various court decisions, developed district boundaries for the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. Each Senate district consists of three contiguous House districts. Districts for the Ohio Court of Appeals are defined by statute. These districts were last altered in 1980. Districts for the State Board of Education consist of three contiguous Ohio Senate districts. The governor drew the districts in 2002, pursuant to Ohio law. 1
