We ate and then after dinner we played some musical dance games. Debbie read us the story Twas the Night Before Christmas. She even had us singing some Old Christmas songs. After dinner there were drawings for items like baked goods, helmets, chrome, and gift boxes filled with goodies. Once all said and done they raised over $600.00 for their charity.
Thank You Angels Among Us Have you heard or seen the phrase The Shock and Awe? On December 10 th it was a beautiful day in more than one way. As you know, we adopted 5 Families in the Woodburn RV Park this year for the Christmas Season. I first want to say Thank You so much to our Chapter Angels. Kathy & Rick, Terry and Cheri, Dorothy & Don, Mark & Art and Dianna & Fred for making this event a big hit!!! We had enough food for each of the families to get 2 potato size boxes filled with canned goods, as well as fresh veggies and fruit donated by Imperfect Produce. Thank You Kathy & Rick for driving around and picking up the extra goodies. So we started out by dividing all the can goods out and then after we wrapped the presents for our little 7 year old man we headed out to deliver. What was awesome is the park inherited a shopping cart. You know where this is going. =) We first headed to Bob s who is a very sweet older single man. We had a nice gift box filled with goodies for him. We knock on the door and my friend Sue, who takes care of Bob every day, told him there were some friends here and they had something for him. So we quickly sang We wish you a Merry Christmas to Bob. She hands him the gift box and I have to say, I have never seen a bigger smile. He hugged that box and then all of a sudden he had a tear from his eyes. What most of you don t know is he has a family but they don t come to see him. So for the first time he wasn t forgotten and Chapter I made his DAY, WEEK and probably even his YEAR. Next, we went to see Ms. Georgia who is 90 years young. We knock on the door and when she starts to answer we sing We wish you a Merry Christmas She was just a little overwhelmed and wasn t sure what to do or say. She usually has to go to the food bank every week. Well with her two boxes of canned foods, it will be a while before she has to go again. She was so Thankful for the nice goodie bag that had treats for her puppy and the yarn we gave her to crochet something new. So back to the Rec room where we loaded up for the next two families. We head to June and Alvin s. They too have to go to the food bank every week. June and Georgia go together as June has no transportation. As June stood on her steps as Alvin can t get out of bed she is overwhelmed by the amount of food and goodies we provided to them. On the verge of tears she said Thank You so much. So now were on our way to Little Man Mr. Gavin and his parents. Mom and Gavin were only home as dad had to run an errand. We once again have Sue to help us. She knocks on the door and Yep, we sing our favorite song We wish you a Merry Christmas. Well Gavin comes down there step and doesn t know what to think. As he holds his little fingers to his mouth and one could tell, he didn t know whether to sing with us or to cry for joy. He asked us, What s going on? We told him that we heard he was a really good boy this year so we had some Christmas gifts for him. So we start emptying the shopping cart and he hands them to his mom to put inside their home. His mom, Connie, couldn t believe what was happing as no one has ever done something like this for them. We passed her the gift bag we had put together for her and her hubby Keith. We told Gavin he had to wait until Christmas to open his gifts..he said ok. Just before we left he gave everyone a hugs and said Thank You to each and every one of us. This kid is so genuine and I m pretty convinced that he will never forget this day. I can also see him one day passing it forward and sharing some love like we did for him and his family.
Thank You Angels Among Us Lastly, we go to Ms. Sandy who lost her husband this past year. With her two boxes of food and goodies says, I don t know what to say Thank You so much and as a tear starts to roll down her cheek and hugs as we left. So our job is now complete and as we walk back to the Rec room, were discussing what we just experienced. I don t know if it was Kathy or Mark who said it best, I don t know which one was my favorite I think we all agree they were ALL Our Favorite. We made a BIG difference in some life s today and I don t know who got more out of it, them or us. In closing I just want to say, Thank You so very much all of you for taking time and money to put huge smiles and happiness in these people s hearts. Merry Christmas to each of you.
