Split Tour 2016 Split Primošten Trogir Day excursion (island of Hvar or Šolta) Plitvice Lakes visit Tour includes transfer from Zagreb to Split via Plitvice Lakes. It s perfect way to see&feel almost half of Croatia s landscape/biodiversity in just one day. All locations, attractions, restaurants, and hideaways I ve visited and checked personally. I can promise you easy-going time and plenty of fun Day 1 Split In the morning (around 9.30am) we would start Split sightseeing tour (Diocletian palace, built in 4 th century UNESCO WH site; Riva Promenade; farmers market & fish market, viewpoint Vidilica with coffee break). Sightseeing approx. 2 hours. After sightseeing, I ll take you to local fish restaurant Konoba Matejuska for lunch, where locals eat. Lunch is not included in the tour price. Your afternoon is at leisure to explore rest of Split, soaking up the atmosphere and city s good vibes. Along the way, we would stop in Babich vineyards, location Bucavac (above the marina Kremik ). Picture of Babich vineyards used to hang in UN headquarters, Geneva (as a symbol of hard human labor). After Babich vineyards, we would continue to town of Primosten and have short sightseeing walk.
Primošten Babich vineyards & Primošten Leaving Primošten, we re heading to town of Seget Donji to have lunch in fish restaurant Frankie (local food & wine). Lunch is included in the tour. After the lunch, we ll drive to beautiful renaissance/baroque style town of Trogir, listed as UNESCO WH site. Sightseeing circa 1 hour. Trogir old town Trogir old town walls If available, we would have lunch in Trogir, instead in Seget Donji. I have a partner in Trogir, who does cooking classes. We wouldn t do whole class, you would help with just one part of cooking the food. This is interesting way to learn more about Croatian cuisine and taste a meal made of fresh ingredients. Of course, local schnapps and wine is a must! Fresh sardines grilled and sprinkled (olive-oil) Just-in-time grilling art After slow food lunch and enjoying local wine, we would go back to Split. When we return to Split, rest of the evening you are free.
Day 3 Island Hvar day excursion (boat trip to Paklinski islands included) I ll meet you in Split harbor around 8.00am and we would walk to terminal to catch a ferry Split Hvar. We should leave the car in Split, it s too expensive to take it with us. Hvar is one of the most beautiful middle Dalmatian islands, full of small sleepy towns, interesting architecture, crystal clear sea water, Mediterranean herbs, vineyards, lavender fields, excellent wine, delicious food &wine We would embark on ferry Split Stari Grad (island of Hvar) 8.30am. At 10.30 we'll come to town Stari Grad. From there we will use local bus to town of Hvar - approx. 25 minutes (breathtaking scenery). Arriving to town of Hvar, first we would jump into the fisherman boat and go to Paklinski islands. On Paklinski islands we will have 1 hour for walking around the island, enjoying peace and tranquility. If you like, you can swim in one of top 5 Dalmatian beaches Palmizana beach. Recommended!!! After lunch I ll guide you through the town (town square, cathedral, old theater house 'Arsenal'). If you like, we can climb up to 16th cent. army fort (20 minutes walking up the hill) nice viewpoint. We will return to Stari Grad with bus to embark on ferry at 5.30pm. We will return to Split 7.30pm. Rest of evening you are free.
Day 3 alternative Island Solta day excursion (boat trip included) Here is alternative to island Hvar day excursion. I highly recommend visit to island of Solta (1 hour ferry sail from Split). One of best Croatian olive-oil is produced on this island. Last year I purchased 20 liter of olive-oil from Solta. Mr. Vicko Kastelanac - olive-oil producer, vintner, fisherman will host us on his farm house and fisherman house. GORNJE SELO village Orange tree in GORNJE SELO Mr. Vicko s Konoba (cellar) Program: Split morning ferry to island of Solta (town of Rogac). Mr. Vicko will wait us with his car and drive us to village GORNJE SELO, where he lives In his house, in 'Konoba' (local name for cellar) you'll have welcome drink (schnapps) and you'll have presentation/tasting of 2 different olive-oils (local olive fruit type 'Oblica' & 'Levatinka'). Also, you will learn about link between red wines Crljenak Kastelanski (aka Zinfandel) Dobricic Plavac mali (Zinfandel and Dobricic are 'parents' of Plavac mali). Of course, story on local life, culture, why life on island during winter could be harsh... After olive/wine tasting, we would go to 'Uvala Stracinska' (Bay 'Stracinska') and there have a short boat trip Coming back into the bay, we would have lunch in Vicko's fisherman house (grilled fresh fish). There you'll learn a secret of preparing perfect 'gradele' (local name for grill/barbecue). After lunch we would go back to Rogac and embark on ferry to Split.
