P a g e 2 Tuesday 25 th February At this week s meeting we discussed the proposed changes to the Club s By-Laws. The Board will meet and discuss the proposed changes and the members will be given a draft proposal to be discussed and voted on at a future meeting. Apologies were received from Louise Ritchie, Terry Lobban and Rob Grey. We were joined by a quest of Jacki Chandler s Ange. John Grimmond left the meeting early to attend a meeting on the Howrah Men s Shed. John has written the following update for you to read. The men s shed is close to being up and running. They have permission, and a grant of $3000 from Clarence City Council, to commence the planning and engineering report for the concrete slab. They have decided to join both the Tasmanian Men s Shed Association and the Australian Men s Shed Association. The cost for the first is $20pa, but they are not sure about the Aust. one. They have to join the Aust association in order to get a good discount on the insurance which will include Public Liability Insurance and personal injury insurance. The insurance will cost $24 per member, to come out of the $40 membership fee. They have eleven paid up member so far with myself and another accepted for membership last Tuesday, so the money in the bank amounts to $440. Out of this they already an account for $143 for registration for an ABN. The Clarence Council has indicated more funds for the purchase of the shed and they are applying for a Tasmanian Community Grant for the erection of the shed. The estimated total cost of purchase and erection is over $100,000 What they need right now is some working capital and it is my intention to ask the board for a donation of $500 to help out in this instance. I will keep you all informed of what is happening at the Howrah Men s Shed in future notices. Recently we received the following information regarding La Violante (Tall Ship) for consideration.
