PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Each year we endeavour to update delegates on recent developments in the jurisdiction. This will include sessions on legislative changes and recent case law. The annual EPLA covers a wide spectrum of topics, which are selected to engage and interest professionals from many disciplines who practise in the areas of planning, local government and environmental law, administrative law, and property law. The specialised sessions during the will bring together scientific and legal responses to the increasingly concerning challenges to the world s oceans. I am delighted to announce that Professor Steven Sherwood of the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of New South Wales has agreed to present the keynote address of the. Professor Sherwood is one of our most respected climate scientists and we look forward to his address, Insights into global warming impacts. North Head is a place of extraordinary natural beauty. It is an important site of both Indigenous and European heritage. We will make the best use of this environment with tours and walks of the area, along with a session on its heritage, to keep you energised between sessions. PRACTICAL INFORMATION ACCOMMODATION Q Station, Sydney s former Quarantine Station is a unique location embracing Sydney s history. Hidden amongst native Australian bushland at North Head in Sydney Harbour National Park at Manly, it has stunning views overlooking the harbour and the modern Sydney skyline. EPLA has reserved all the accommodation for delegates on 25 & 26 October. As Q Station Manly is a national park, no guests are allowed to drive on site and all guests will be asked to park their cars at the car park at reception. A Q Station shuttle bus will transport guests between the car park, wharf and the venue. Delegates should allow at least 20 minutes before commencement of the sessions and drinks to allow time to arrive at the venue, and are encouraged to explore to make the most of their visit. GETTING THERE CAR Arriving in Manly via Sydney Road, turn right to Belgrave St. Turn left at Manly Wharf. Take the second left (signposted North Head), turn right onto Darley Road and up the hill past Manly Hospital. Go through the stone arch, continue until you reach a roundabout and turn right into Q Station parking area. Shuttle buses are available at Reception to transport you to the venue. BUS Catch the 135 bus that operates between Warringah Mall, Balgowlah, Manly Wharf and Q Station; Call Sydney Buses on 131 500 for the latest timetable or visit TfNSW. FERRY The Sydney Harbour Eco Hopper ferry stops right at the doorstep at Quarantine Wharf (Q Station) several times a day. The Eco Hopper is an enjoyable, relaxing way to see Sydney Harbour & arrive at Q Station. Tickets can be purchased from the Fast Ferry booth at Manly or Circular Quay wharves. If staying at QStation for the you can book in at Reception or at the arrival wharf, and have your luggage delivered to your room. Use of personal vehicles is not permitted on the property.
