Summary 3 BR 2 Bath Home - sleeps up to 13 Description Dory Lakes Cabin - a SkyRun Nederland Property Rustic mountain retreat Clean, cozy, no pretentions Lots of room inside and on large deck and sunroom and 4 acres of level forested property. 5 mins to parks and rec center with indoor pool. The Dory Lakes cabin has been owned by its Texas owner as her retirement home for years now. The thing is that she hasn't retired yet(!), so she is offering her home for the use of SkyRun guests. This is the perfect unpretentious cabin/mountain home. Certainly not the luxury you would find on the slopes of Aspen or Vail, but ideal for a small group or large extended family who want an option in the mountains on Colorado's Front Range. Sleeps 13 most of the year, and up to 15 in the summer, using the bunk room. NOTE: The TV has a ROKU/internet connected device for use with your favorite streaming service and a large library of DVDs, but there is no CABLE TV. Also AT&T works here using cell connectivity. We have had reports from guests that other carriers may not work using cell connectivity. However, all four major US carriers (T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon) now provide Wi-Fi calling and we have a land line too! So you'll be well connected. Starting outside, there is a 2-car garage that you will have the use of and a paved driveway (the road getting in is dirt, but level and very well maintained year-round). There is additional parking for 4 more cars and the home is on 4 acres of forest to have as your own -- unless you count sharing with the moose, fox, deer, elk, squirrels and the occasional bear and coyote (who stay away during the day). As you drive up past the garage, the first thing you'll notice is the covered bridge walkway between the over-garage 'kids bunk room'
(summer only, not heated in winter) and the large deck and sunroom attached to the main home. The bunk room is primitive and has an old pot-bellied stove in it for heat and a space heater. The "bunks" are a twin bed, and a futon (that can sleep one, or two if you want to be cozy). It's best used in summer or for older kids that are comfortable around a hot wood stove. In the summer, all ages will enjoy the safety and seclusion of their own bunk room. You enter the main home through a large sunroom with a card table and 2 easy chairs for relaxing while looking out the windows that surround you into your personal forest and the mountains beyond. Entering the home, you'll step into a large living area with wood stove, flat panel hdtv (no local cable, only roku/netflix) and a (sleeper) sofa. The ceiling is over 20' tall looking up to an overhead loft. There is a separate dining area and the large kitchen with counter in this main living area. It may be 'rustic,' but the appliances are modern... let's not be TOO rustic eh? ;-) The kitchen has its own door to the deck where you will find a large dining area with a brand-new fire pit and a gas grill for your outdoor cooking and relaxing pleasure. The full bath on the main level has a full-sized washer/dryer, handy if you will be staying with us for a week (which is highly recommended to be the minimum 'chill' time period). You're most likely to see a moose in your yard if you stay with us for a week. ;-) Completing the ground floor are 2 bedrooms, one with queen 4-poster bed and the other with a double and a twin-over-futon that can be a reading sofa or another comfortable queen bed. Heading upstairs, there is a loft with a nice working desk (best view in the house) and a futon sofa that can sleep 1 or 2 people very comfortably. There is a large closet on this level too. There is little privacy in the loft, but it's a nice and large sleeping area for kids or two adults who know each other really well. There is a full bath on this level also and a large master bedroom with king bed and beautiful quilt. The home is heated by a modern forced-air gas furnace that keeps it toasty warm all year. There is a wood stove (living room) and potbelly stoves in the dining area and kids bunk room for extra heat or fun. Firewood is supplied (you build the fire...). Music must be played softly and conversations kept to normal conversation levels.
