Matters arising from the minutes a) Methodist church & Leisure Centre signs for community garden not done b) Lily pool plaque - fitted. Gate plaque in hand with SBC handyman. c) Tree Trail good progress will circulate when nearer completion. d) Up-dating Training & Audience Development Plans meetings fixed for November 12 th & 19 th. e) Metal flag ongoing with JC Fabrication f) South Seas interpretation board meeting Anne Dennier next week to discuss. Art work not yet received from Jet Print. Marcus needs SBC order for the design work.
g) Truck damage with SBC legal department JP requested up-date. h Passing place work has started. JP & to represent FPP. Cards sent to Hudson s Guest House & Beacon Farm to say their donations have been used to purchase daffodil bulbs. Questionnaire completed for HLF The state of UK parks Simple & factual. 400 days volunteering in last 2 years. Information received about Wild about gardening week Letter received from Mulgrave Estates offering a Christmas tree. Thanks from Matthew Smartt for visitor stats. Questionnaire completed for HLF. Blank copy available to view. 5. Treasurer s report Anne Noble reported 3061.50 in account. Since last meeting order for spring bulbs, 161.69 paid out. HLF money reimbursed - 239.08 spoke to Mark Edwards about a possible additional security camera or improving the quality of those we already have. In favour. ADT contact provided. 6. Assistant Operations Officer s Report Chris Roe congratulated everyone on the Yorkshire Rose Gold Award. This was the result of excellent teamwork. The new apprentice, Richie, has settled in well & received an excellent first report from Askham Bryan College. The early autumn colour is looking good. Decision made on plants for the Gardener Bed, 616. Will need a photo shoot/publicity. 10 high vis vests to be ordered. SBC finance report shows 37,000 budget saving on Pannett Park project. (under spend on contract) To ask Chris Bourne for clarification. 7. Health & Safety Emergency 24 hour number for SBC is 01723 351558. This is the number which failed to get an answer on August bank holiday Saturday. 8. Horticultural sub-group Report Keith Wright reported Johnothan, the Mulgrave Castle gardened paid a return visit to the park. Privet to be ordered to gap up the hedges. Harry Eatough family to be invited in to discuss new roses. Possibly pastel shades. Rockery bulbs are ordered. Dead trees to be discussed at November meeting. Suggestion that the clock be planted with 1953 & diamonds either side, next year. Decision needed for plants around numbers. Hort Sub 9. Maintenance The chain from the main gate, padlock & keys have been replaced. WTC paid. Lion s mouth fountain - 3 filters made. Plant supports needed for spring. 10. Green Flag No Judges comments received yet. Matthew Smart & chasing. 11. Yorkshire in Bloom Yorkshire Rose Gold Award & category winner. Gazette publicity with other Whitby successes. Very positive comments from editor. Certificate is on display at TIC Excellent for tourism but no response from SBC officers. Agreed to write to Steve Reynolds asking what support would be available if we entered again next year. This would inform our decision. All agreed to display our success on the blank sponsor board at the clock. Whitby, Park & FPP awards. To send to Roger Burnett to produce.

November Open Meeting Wednesday 13 th November 2 pm Normanby Room. Change posted on website & all informed. Publicity Police invited & accepted. LS 13. Community Garden The Community Garden is only working for Dalewood House. Much less successful for Churches Together, Methodist Church, Mind & Leisure Centre. Discussion followed & various alternatives were suggested, such as Taster allotment beds, demonstration beds, Whitby Yards beds, Residential homes beds. Decision to be taken at November meeting on a plan for the spring. 14. Whitby Guide All agreed to joining WDTA & placing an ad in the Whitby Guide. 1/3 page 255 less 12.5% 15. Leaflet re-prints In stock Turtle trail 5 boxes Jurassic Garden 12 boxes Figure... 2 boxes Park 1 box Last year 10,000 park leaflets cost 758 to request reprint quote from Adverset. Do we need more treasure trail leaflets to put out in TIC or do we advertise them as available at Museum? To discuss with TIC manager. Tee trail printing costs to take into consideration next year. 16. Friend s events in the park Halloween - Thursday 31 st October, 12 to 2. Circulate notes based on last year s event. Planning meeting 23 rd October, 11 am. PNSA spooky tale Normanby Room 1 pm. Fancy dress & carved pumpkin judging 1.30 Activities outside if good weather, Normanby Room if not. Christmas tree lights Wednesday 11 th December Dates for 2014 with Museum Custodians. Open day at Mulgrave Castle Armistice Day service has been advertised in the park. 17. Friend s social events Bloom celebration at the Resolution was a good evening. Thanks from Ron for his birthday gift. Christmas lunch Thursday 12 th December Normanby Room 18. Any other business Ron s video of the judging is interesting. Suggested it might be useful for training new judges. Copy to Roger Burnett. New summer video is on the website. After discussion it was agreed to be more pro-active in keeping the chair of the trustees informed. To report key points at WTC meetings. It had been agreed to arrange a walk round. SH/LS AS WTC are investigating a grant application to Parks for People for a toilet block & garden shed. All felt it essential for FPP & SBC to be involved.
