Club Information Havasu Gold Seekers, Inc. is a non-profit gold seekers club in Lake Havasu City, Arizona with 15 gold bearing claims, covering over 320 acres. The Club was started in early 1991 when a small group of Lake Havasu City residents got together for the purpose of recreational gold prospecting in the desert near Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The Club started with about 20 men and women and grew slowly until February of 1992 when Captain Dan McCarty and seven other members formed an association and filed four placer claims totaling 640 acres. At the very next club meeting the Club elected officers and adopted by-laws. The newly elected President, Dan McCarty, Vice-President, Denny Craig, and Secretary, Elaine Babb, had the tough job of making things work well for the benefit of all club members. From that point on the Club has grown to over 400 members. HGS purchased its own land near the claims for Club activities such as family outings, BB's, camping and of course, GOLD PROSPECTING! From September through May, the Havasu Gold Seekers, Inc. meets in the Havasu Room at Quality Inn & Suites Motel on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The Board Meeting precedes the general meeting at 6:00 p.m. Yearly individual or family membership dues are $40 and are due by December 31. Family membership includes family members under 18. The initiation fee for a new membership is $100. The total cost for new members the first year is $140 and $40 thereafter. The dues help us pay for club functions, miscellaneous expenses, and fees on HGS gold claims. Anyone wishing to join the Havasu Gold Seekers must fill out a Membership Application and a Hold Harmless Agreement. Take your application and agreement to a Club meeting or mail it along with your check to: Havasu Gold Seekers, Inc. P.O. Treasurer Norb Kiesling gave the treasurers report for April and it was accepted as read. There was a brief discussion on the re-model of the old bathrooms that was required by the County Health Department. The plumbing and the floors need to be redone but there was no estimate on the cost at this time. We will be closing the old bathroom this spring and summer to complete this work. bathrooms. They will be installed at the end of the summer. It was announced that Kim Marshall will be ordering T-shirts and hats so if you have a request for sizes, colors, long sleeve/ short sleeve let Kim know or e-mail Norb at the address in the newsletter. A 50/50 drawing was held and after a short break the losers drawing was held with three lucky losers each taking home 2 ounces of silver. The meeting was adjourned. Camp Chairman Roy Lohrengal mentioned that we have 6 spaces available at this time and that 11 people haven t paid their maintenance fees for this year. He mentioned that he encountered a rattlesnake in his backyard this week so be on the alert. Norb reported that BLM has rejected our request for a Mining Notice for the proposed new Common Dig site on HGS3A. They stated that a Notice as defined by law is for exploration only and that what we submitted does not qualify as exploration. They now require a Plan of Operation which will require more paperwork and more delays. We will be submitting new paperwork shortly.
