Urban Development Institute of Australia INTERNATIONAL STUDY TOUR 2016 SHANGHAI GUANGZHOU HONG KONG Platinum Tour Partner

UDIA NSW INTERNATIONAL STUDY TOUR Following the success of the study tours to Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo, San Francisco and Los Angeles, UDIA NSW will this year be showcasing Asia. The tour will visit Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong to learn lessons from the local property market with a focus on innovation, land use and urban planning. The UDIA NSW International Study Tour 2016 itinerary has been designed specifically for leaders in the Australian development industry from both the public and private sectors. Tour delegates will meet with local and international developers, consultants and other officials to learn about and exchange views on planning, urbanisation, development, housing design and technology, sustainability and innovation. The tour offers a learning and networking experience of a lifetime. June 5-15 2016 HOW TO SECURE YOUR PLACE ON THE TOUR The tour is limited to 30 delegates. Places will be allocated on a first-in, first-served basis. Please email Kylie Prince, General Manager of Operations, kprince@udiansw.com.au with any questions you may have. WHAT YOU WILL SEE AND LEARN SHANGHAI Strategic Planning Learn about Shanghai's strategic plan-making for the city's land and social-economic development and physical construction. Learn how government organisations, districts and countys work together to achieve successful outcomes. Urban Renewal Hear from the local experts and visit some key heritage sites and redevelopment projects such as Xintiandi, The Bund, Tian Zhi Fang, Shanghai 1933 and Pudong. Financing Development Learn the common methods of financing development in Shanghai, such as national government grants and loans raised from treasure bonds, municipal government funds, tariff and user charges, loans from banks, capital markets, and private sector involvement. Public Spaces In a city in the midst of transformational change, public spaces are as important as the high-rise towers that dominate the city's landscape as they contribute to a shared sense of community within the city. On this tour we will visit some key public space redevelopments. Residential Development Spend a day exploring a mixture of signature high-end, 'themed' and affordable residential developments hosted by local developers and members of UDIA NSW. Conservation of Heritage Observe development projects in the inner city, especially the redevelopment of historic residential blocks, and discover how different patterns work to preserve the old residential blocks under the effects of the redevelopment. Image: Hong Kong Image: Guangzhou Image: Hong Kong Observation Wheel GUANGZHOU World Class Integrated Development Spend a day touring the Dragon Lake Resort, a National AAAA Tourist Attraction in the naturally inspired town of Huadong, Huadu District, Guangzhou. Golf course and theme park inspired hotels are mixed in with residential and retail development. Planning for Growth Learn how the Guangzhou municipality implements national, provincial and municipal laws, rules, regulations and policies concerning urban and rural planning. Transport Infrastructure Learn how major transport infrastructure projects in the region have facilitated urban development and connected the people of the Pearl River Delta as well as playing an integral role in promoting Guangzhou's economic development. HONG KONG Transport Orientated Development Learn about the model Hong Kong developed to solve their conflicting land uses by integrating their mass transport solution with their housing and commercial development needs. Signature Sites Spend a day exploring signature projects with a focus on innovation and technology hosted by UDIA NSW members. Balancing Land Uses Find out how Hong Kong juggles its various competing demands for housing, industrial and commercial, transport, recreation, nature conservation, heritage preservation, and infrastructure and community facilities, against a backdrop of limited land resources. www.udiansw.com.au
