Day Camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids see what they can accomplish, learn and master skills, make new friends, and feel like they belong. Every new experience at day camp is a chance for kids to stay active, address gaps in learning when school is not in session, and have fun. With the careful guidance of our trained staff, campers will learn core values that will last forever. They ll explore. They ll play. They ll grow. And they ll have an incredible amount of fun! Safe, Licensed Program Safety is our motivation at the Y. We hold our programs to the very highest standards through internal assessments and external inspections. Many of our camps voluntarily fulfill with third party requirements and regulation, including state-licensing and/or ACA accreditation. This helps further ensure a safe, healthy and worthwhile camping experience. Financial Assistance Available to Qualified Families We work hard throughout the year so everyone can be a part of the Y. Use your imagination and explore your future dream job. Nothing could be more exciting than building your own fantasy future! Week B: Holidays June 19 23 What s your favorite Holiday? It matters not! Come all ye faithful because we ve got all the big ones wrapped into one fantastic week. Celebrate them all Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more! Week C: Space June 26 30 Calling all future astronauts! The depths of space are full of possibilities for discovery, from rockets to aliens; this week will be out there. To infinity and beyond! Week D: Sports July 3 7 Whether you love basketball, soccer, tennis, or another sport, you ll learn lessons centered on teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers of all abilities will learn and play a variety of sports during sports week. Week E: Water July 10 14 Dive into our wettest week! Discover the depths of the ocean, its wild creatures, and the pirates that once sailed the seas. Arm yourself with water balloons, pack your swimsuit, and prepare to get soaked. Week F: Carnival July 17 21 Fire up the cotton candy machine and crank up the fun, because it s time for the Y Carnival. Step right up and try your hand at the ring toss, stop by the face painting stand, or maybe win a special prize at one of the game stations. These are just a few activities that await! Week G: Disney July 24 28 Be Our Guest, Be Our Guest! We are on a fast pass through the entire magical world of Disney! With Disney themed activities each day, we are bringing the magic to camp all week. Week H: Science July 31 August 4 Science is all about exploration. If you can dream it, you can create it! Design experiments with friends and build hands-on projects while diving deep into your curious mind. Week I: Pirate August 7 11 Arrg Matey! Can you help us find the lost treasure? This week will be spent on the high seas with your favorite Pirate friends. Don t forget your eye patches me hearties! Week J: International August 14 18 Grab your passports as we travel around the globe to visit different cultures/countries though games, music, foods and crafts. We ll end our travels with a stop at the Y! Week K: Superhero August 21 25 There is no place better than camp to practice your superhero powers! Together with our super camp staff, you will do extraordinary things. Week L: Spirit August 28 September 1 We ve got spirit yes we do! No sad faces allowed this week as the crazy socks, goofy hats and other wild things come out as we show our spirit to one and all.

Exciting field trips, fun games, and unique activities, combined with the Y s four core values ensures that our campers get a fun filled summer that helps them learn and grow! Join us as we soar with superheroes, make scientific discoveries, explore far off lands, and much more! Camp Metro Ages: 5-13*** Camp Location: Metro Charter Academy 34800 Ecorse Rd, Romulus, MI, 48174 Camp Metro welcomes students from Metro Charter Academy, Quest, and Taylor Exemplar. We will travel up to 3 times a week to explore the outdoors, participate in weekly field trips, and go swimming. Camper must have completed in kindergarten in 2016. Camp Cost 5 DAYS Y Members $165, Community Participants $220 3 DAYS Y Members $125, Community Participants $155 Camp runs in week-long themed sessions from June 26 to August 18. Camp activities run from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, and before & after care is available. A Day in the Life of a Day Camper Campers arrive and are signed in by a parent or guardian. Campers who arrive early will have time for free play, games, puzzles or other large motor activities. At 9:00 am we will clean up and line up for breakfast. After campers receive breakfast, they will start small group time. During small group time, campers create daily goals with their group. After small group, campers will participate in walking club, a twenty minute time for campers to walk, talk, and get in some physical activity. After walking club, we join together to enjoy our opening group meeting. At the meeting we will have an activity, hear about our schedule for the day and sing songs. After the opening group meeting,activity time starts. We will enjoy group games, craft activities, word play, exploration station, and other healthy activities. If it is a trip day, we will board the bus and head out! We may go to a zoo, a museum, water park, or another YMCA camp! All campers will take trips to the Downriver Family YMCA to swim, typically at least twice a week. We will build financial literacy with Character Cash and our camp store, and decrease summer learning loss with 30 minutes of reading daily, plus engaging weekly science and math activities that will keep our brains active. Snack and water breaks will be provided throughout the day, each camper brings their own healthy snack and refillable water bottle. Lunch will be provided each day and a bagged lunch will be provided on field trip days. We will return to camp at 4:00 pm each day for pick up or extended care for those needing to stay longer. Campers end the day ready to rest, refresh, and return for another day! Day Camp Policies REGISTER ONLINE @ ymcadetroit.org/day-camp In-person registration at the Y is also availalbe. Before Care/After Care Policies There is no cost for Before Care (7-9 am) & After Care (4-6 pm). Campers must be picked up by 6:00 pm or late fees will be applied. Important Registration Information A one-time registration fee of $25 per family will be applied at the time of registration. This fee is nonrefundable. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $15 is required for each week reserved and applies toward the total camp fee. Weekly balances are due the Wednesday prior to the start of each camp week. If full payment is not received registration will be canceled and deposit lost. Sibling Discount & Payment Plans A 10% discount is available for each additional sibling registered. Weekly EFT billing is available. DHS payments accepted at Camp Metro ony. Financial Assistance available to those who qualify. Food / Meals A healthy, USDA approved lunch will be provided free of charge through our partnership with Meet Up and Eat Up. A monthly menu will be posted for parents. If an alternative lunch is preferred, parents are welcome to pack a healthy lunch and snack for their children. Please leave soda and candy at home. Understand Your Options DHS Payments Accepted for Qualified Families Did you know the YMCA is able to accept Michigan Department of Human Services payments for qualified families? Families can check their eligibilty using MI bridges at https://www.mibridges.michigan.gov/access/ You may qualify for help with you child care payments, please see DHS guidelines for information on eligibility. YMCA Scholarships YMCA scholarships for Child care are available to qualified families, applications available at your local YMCA branch. Proof if income required. If your camper cannot attend a field trip or has to be picked up early, the YMCA may not be able to provide provisional care. It is the parent/guardians responsibility to plan in advance of this need. Additional field trips may not be substituted if a camper misses a day. Parent Initial Swimming My camper may participate in the YMCA summer swim program. I understand my camper will supervised by a licensed lifeguard at all times. NOTE: Campers will be given a swim test before each swimming session. Parent Initial Program Information I have received the YMCA Summer Day Camp Parent Handbook.
