Program Descriptions Flight of the Sparrow / Catch Me If You Can: Rufus Williams and Andrew Pappas This session will give an overview of financial crimes across the state of North Carolina that include embezzlement, obtaining property by false pretenses (fraud), corporate malfeasance and other business related schemes. NC Title Insurance The Past, Present and Future: Bob Mack This session will review the history/background of the Title Insurance business in NC. Additionally, he will share some thoughts, issues and differences pertaining to Title Insurance from a regulator s viewpoint. Real Property Case Law Update: Chris Burti A review of various cases, relating to real property, which have been decided by North Carolina courts over approximately the last 24 months. ALTA Update: Dan Wold This session will be presented by the Treasurer of ALTA on market and regulatory issues that will impact the industry. NCBA Real Property Update: Tonya Bunn Powell This session will update attendees on the activities of the North Carolina Bar Association s Real Property Section. Her topics will include current legislative issues, Section initiatives, and activities of the Section s various committees. TRID & ALTA Best Practices: Ken Sykes, Kim McConkey, and Julian Robb This will be a panel discussion on TRID & ALTA Best Practices. Legislative Update: David Ferrell This session will explore the 2016 NCLTA legislative activities.
Continuing Education Credit CLE will be applied for with the North Carolina State Bar Board of Continuing Legal Education. Pending approval is 6 hours of CLE credit. If you are an NC licensed attorney, please be sure your NC State Bar License number is listed on your Registration Form so that we can properly report and pay for your credits to the CLE Board. If you are a paralegal, legal secretary, or other person who needs confirmation of CLE, please notify NCLTA directly.
