President s Message REMEMBERING KEN When I was elected chapter president, one of the first things I thought about was what I was going to use as subject matter for the president s message every month. I never thought I would be writing about a fellow P.O.C.C. member that passed away. Sadly, I cannot write this month s presidents message without including a few words about Ken Mueller, who passed away on February 10 th. A resident of Madera, Ken has been a loyal member of Pontiacs of Central California since 2002. Ken owned a Fiero and a late model GTO. When Ken first joined the club, I recall that he had a 1965 (I think it was a 65) Pontiac 2+2, though I have not seen this car in a long time. Ken attended most of our club functions and his usual task for our annual Central Valley Classic Car Show was to take care of pre-registration. Ken was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Carpenters Union. Ken and his wife Judy enjoyed traveling to bluegrass music concerts and festivals. I think Ken was a motor sports fan also, because I recall seeing him at Madera Speedway a couple of times. To Judy and family, we would like to extend our condolences and prayers, and want you know that we are thinking of you during this sad time. Page 2 On a lighter note, I would like to thank Joel Garrett and Ron Berglund for planning our club Valentines cruise on February 13 th. It was a fun cruise through the hills of eastern Fresno County with our destination being the Red Caboose Diner at Academy and Shaw Avenues. Thank you, gentlemen. I hope to see all of you at the March meeting. Dave Valla 2010 President, P.O.C.C. If you want to put something on the Agenda for a future meeting, send e-mail or call Dave. VALENTINE MYSTERY CRUISE On Saturday morning Feb 13 th fifteen cars and 32 club members took advantage of the beautiful weather and met at Judy s Donuts for Pontiacs of Central California s first 2010 driving activity. At the starting point, mileage to our destination was guessed and recorded, and also, 6 dice were rolled and totaled for the first 2 of 5 scores which would be used to determine the Winners of the days activity (though I am sure everyone who attended felt like winners). The weather was so nice that a few members went Topless err I mean they drove with their convertible tops down.

At our mid-way stop in Prather, members recorded the last 5 digits of their vehicles VIN as their 3 rd score. We then made our way back to the Valley floor and ended the cruise at The Red Caboose Café at the corner of Academy and Shaw. Members enjoyed great breakfast and lunch food on the restaurant s covered outdoor patio. Club members used the last four digits of their Drivers License # to come up with their 4 th score. As members were enjoying their meals, a Mystery auto part was passed around, and members had to guess 1) the make of automobile it was from, and 2) what the part actually was. Each member would be awarded 10 points each for their correct answers. Andy Hoff was the only member to score any points (10) by correctly guessing that the part was from a Volkswagen. The total scores were then tallied and the prizes were distributed. 3 rd place went to Dave Valla, 2 nd place went to Janet and Brian Massey, and 1 st place went to Jack and Sue Fusari. Each winner received a heart shaped box of See s Candy. Thanks to Tina Valla, everyone received a goodie bag filled with Valentines candy. It has to be said that the 1 st driving activity of 2010 was a HUGE success. Beautiful weather, a great turnout, great food, great friends and best all, no break downs.
