"We feel very lucky to have found this place, Louise says. "We were welcomed by all the people of Ukiah." %%%In%1990%Dan%and%Louise%McKinnon% were%living%in%seattle,%where%dan%made%a% good%living%operating%construction% cranes.%everything%suddenly%changed% when%dan%was%forced%into%medical%re2 tirement%after%a%devastating%automobile% accident. %%%"It%changed%our%lives%dramatically,"% Louise%said.%"He%was%pretty%depressed,% so%we%went%to%an%rv%park%on%the%ocean,% where%we%had%a%boat%and%trailer,%so%he% could%go%bishing." %%%Dan,%by%the%way,%loves%ocean%sport% Bishing.%He%has%gone%after%everything% from%yellowtail%to%white%sea%bass%to% mahi%mahi. %%%Two%weeks%into%the%visit%the%park% owner%asked%the%mckinnons%if%they% would%like%a%job%helping%people%park% their%rvs%in%exchange%for%free%rv%and% boat%space. %%%"That%led%to%a%new%career%in%the%RV% industry,"%louise%said.%"we've%sold%rvs%,% managed%parks,%all%of%that." %%%For%18%years%the%McKinnons%worked% summers%at%rv%parks%in%the%u.s.%and% spent%the%winters%at%a%bishing%village%on% Mexico's%Sea%of%Cortez.%"Danny%Bished% and%bished,%and%then%he%bished%some% more,"%louise%said.%%% %%%When%Louise%turned%60%they%decided% to%retire,%again.%while%visiting%some% friends%in%pendleton%they%saw%an%ad%in% the%newspaper%about%the%stage%stop% being%for%sale.%they%took%a%day%to%do% some%sight2seeing%and%check%it%out. %%%Dan%was%entranced.%All%his%life%he%had% wanted%to%live%in%the%woods.%the%people% they%met%were%friendly%and%helpful%and% soon,%even%though%they%had%planned%to% stop%working,%they%found%themselves% the%owners%of%a%small%rv%park. %%%"We%rent%out%cabins%to%hunters,%to% some%people%just%visiting,%for%family%re2 unions,"%dan%said.%"then%there%is%the%rv% side.%a%lot%of%interesting%people." %%%"Even%though%it's%a%small%business%in%a% very%small%community,%the%things%going% on%around%us%have%been%very%good%en2 tertainment,%so%we%don't%consider%it% work,"%louise%said. %%%They've%gone%hunting,%and%Danny%has% Bished%in%the%little%ponds%around%town.% They%feed%the%deer,%turkeys,%squirrels,% doves%and%quail%in%the%winter.%they've% joined%a%church%and%swear%that%the% Thicket%has%the%best%deep%fried%Bish%ever. %%%"This%is%my%dream,"%Dan%said.%"I'm%the% happiest%man%in%the%world%right%now." %%%"We%both%are,"%Louise%added.
