Officers have/are today searched/ing a property in the Kirstall area of Leeds. The property has/is been/being searched as part of an ongoing suspected fraud enquiry. No arrests have been made as part of the investigation. Police are investigating an incident which occurred on Sharket Close in Queensbury, Bradford, following reports of a firearm being discharged shortly after 2am on Sunday 30 June 2013. Two males aged 31 and 23 have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in Police Custody at this time. There were no reports of any injuries as a result of this incident. West Yorkshire Police would appeal to anyone with information about the incident to contact HMET on 101 or Crimestoppers. Police have launched an internal investigation after a 2) boy was bitten by a Police Dog while it was being exercised off duty in the Wakefield area. The Police Officer is still working but his dogs have been removed while the investigation is ongoing. Police were called to an address on 2) Shipley at about 2am this moring to a report of of the sudden death of a 28-year-old woman. The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a full post mortem is being carried out to confirm a cause of death. At this stage it is not believed there are any suspicious circurmstances. Two men were later arrested at the scene on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug and are in custody. We can confirm that Police Forces, in conjunction with other responders, are engaged in a Major Incident Exercise from 10th to 12th July 2013. It is the statutory duty, in accordance with the Civil Contingencies Act, that all agencies prepare and practice for a major incident. This exercise forms an integral part of a national training programme and is a necessary and important test of Contingency Plans. This provides invaluable training and experience for all participants. Members of the public are assured that during the exercise, they will not experience any reduction in the quality of service provided. Detective Chief Inspector Gail Lawrie of the rape investigation team said: "This man took advantage of his victim, forcing himself upon her. "Today's sentence reflects the seriousness in which both the police and courts view such offences. "They are always investigated with the utmost sensitivity and victims can be confident in coming forward to report crimes of this nature." A 64-year-old man was arrested on Friday, July 19, in connection with a number of sexual assaults reported to have occurred between February and July this year. He has been bailed pending further enquiries. A block of flats on Gamble Hill, Pudsey, have been evacuated after a suspicious device was found today at around 5.50pm. This is an on going incident and EOD have attended the scene as the investigation into it continues.

Police were called to reports of suspicious activity at an address on Spearhead Road, Keighley at 5.32pm on Tuesday 23 July. Officers in an unmarked police car attended the scene but the car left the scene. At no point was the car pursued by police although the car did drive past marked police cars. The car was then in collision with a 22 year old woman on North Queen Street a short time later before it collided with a stationary vehicle and came to a stop. The occupants of the vehicle then left the scene. The woman was airlifted by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary where her injuries are currently thought to be serious but not life threatening. Enquiries into the incident remain on going. Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact police on 101. Police are currently investigating an allegation of sexual assault which has been made against an off duty member of West Yorkshire Police Staff. The incident is reported to have occurred yesterday (27 July) and involves a year old woman. 2) A year old man has been arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are ongoing. year old man has been released on bail pending further enquiries He has also been suspended from duty We are assisting colleagues at Yorkshire Ambulance Service, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and Bradford Council in the removal of a deceased man from a property on Dallam Drive, Shipley. Just before 2.30pm today police were called to reports of possible human remains in woods near the junction of Easterly Road and Wetherby Road. A scene has been established and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who has witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact police on 101. We are currently dealing with an incident in which a man has barricaded himself inside a property and made threats. Officers are on scene and are negociating with the man to resolve the situation safely. Police are assisting after a man made off from Leeds Combined Court following sentencing for a blackmail offence. Police are attending at a business on West Street, Normanton following a report of a potentially suspicious device being found there. The store and surrounding businesses and homes have now been evacuated and a cordon has been put around the scene. Initial enquiries are ongoing. Police are currently investigating a stabbing incident which occurred at around 4:40pm this afternoon at the Carnegie Skate Park in Shipley. A 9 year old boy received chest and arm injuries and was transported to Leeds General Infirmary via air ambulance.

He is currently in a stable condition. The suspect is described as white, in his twenties, wearing a cap and glasses. He is also believed to have a walking stick. This is being treated as a critical incident and numerous resources have been deployed to the scene. Enquiries, however; are fast moving and at an early stage. Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111. A -year-old man from 2) is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 14 August after being charged in relation to a series of historic sexual offences against children. At the request of the Home Office, West Yorkshire Police is carrying out a thorough search of systems and records for any information that suggests intelligence gathering or surveillance was carried out on indivduals connected to the Bradford hearing of the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry. As outlined in public statement on Wednesday, 3rd July, we have already found some material, which has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission by West Yorkshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire. Comprehensive searches are continuing and will take several days to complete. Police were called to HM Prison Wealstun today (August 6) following the sudden death of a 31-year-old Leeds man who was a prisoner there. His family have been informed and enquiries are ongoing with HM Prison Service into the circumtances. A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "We are aware of 2) 2) complaint and it has been dealt with. claims have been thoroughly 2 investigated and the matter has not been ignored as suggests. 2) 2) was in arrears to landlord when the property was taken back 2) 2) and this is a civil matter between and landlord." Detective Chief Inspector Marianne Huison, the Senior Investigating Officer in to the investigation, said: "We made a number of arrests in this case and took one man to trial and then a re-trial. "On both occasions he was cleared by a jury of his peers and we of course respect the decision of the jury. "We currently have no plans to reopen the investigation but if someone comes forward with fresh information then we will of course investigate it. People coming forward with historic allegations should feel confident in the knowledge that we will listen to what they have to say and take all allegations seriously. Police were called to an address on 2) in the 2) area of Leeds just before 11am this morn 2) been taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries and is expected to undergo surgery. The dog, which was not on the dangerous dog list, has been seized at the

request of the owner. Police officers executed a warrant at a house in Mytholmroyd at around 9.30am this morning and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm. Enquiries ongoing. Match Commander, Chief Superintendent Chris Hardern said: This was a successful policing operation which allowed supporters to enjoy the football. We worked closely with the clubs in preparation, with safety always at the forefront. A total of 5 people were arrested, 3 for public order offences and 2 for offences involving fireworks, one from inside the ground. Fans were in good spirit throughout and their behaviour played a key role in the smooth running of this event." Police are investigating reports of a rape allegation made by a young girl against five boys aged 12 and 13 years old in Calderdale. All five suspects were arrested and have since been released on bail as enquiries continue. West Yorkshire Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the unexplained death of a 19-year-old man at Leeds Festival. Police Officers working at the festival were called to the on site medical facilities on Sunday 25 August at 11.22pm following his collapse elsewhere on the site. The man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Police are not treating the death as suspicious at this time. The man s family have been notified of his death. Police were called at 6:06pm last night (22/08) to reports of a serious road traffic collision which occurred on Leeds Rd in Heckmondwike. A Toyota Avensis Taxi was in collision with a 13 year old boy who sustained a serious head injury. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a critical condition. Any witnesses is asked to contact the non emergency number 101. At 05.51 this morning (24/8) police were notified by the fire service of a vehicle fire on Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury. When the fire had been extinguished a body was found within the rear of the blue Vauxhall Movano panel van. Due to the nature of the incident, police are currently unable to confirm the gender of the deceased and this will form part of a post mortem examination. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained and police will be working with fire investigators to determine the circumstances leading to the fire. A section of Heckmondwike Road between Low Road and Church Road is expected to remain closed throughout today while the scene continues to be examined. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dewsbury CID via: 101. Police were called to fields near Kilroyd Drive, Cleckheaton at about 1.10pm on Saturday August 31, following a report of violence against a

horse. It is believed the offence took place between 11am and 1pm on Saturday after two men allegedly entered private fields off Maizebrook Avenue and Kilroyd Drive, Hunsworth and chased a horse around fields in a white Mitsubishi 4x4. The horse is then believed to have been dragged behind a moving vehicle until it collapsed and died. Two men were arrested by Kirklees Police on Sunday morning (1/9) in connection with the investigation and have now been released on police bail. A post mortem will now be conducted to determine the cause of death of the animal and officers have notified the RSPCA who are leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA on: 0300 1234 999, Kirklees CID via: 101 or Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111. Police were called by the Fire Service to a house fire on Laburnum Close, East Ardsley at about 11pm on Saturday August 31. Officers attended the house which had been badly damaged by fire. Sadly the body of an man believed to be aged in his mid 60s was found inside. The cause of the blaze will be investigated today by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, but at this stage there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. A file will be prepared for the coroner and enquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of death, formally identify the man found inside, and notify wider family. Police are attending reports of a man having fallen from a bridge at junction 2 on the M621. The man has been taken to LGI by ambulance. Road closures are in place which is likely to cause traffic disruption. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police attended an address on Grasmere Court in the Wortley area of Leeds at around 7pm this evening as part of pre-planned arrest enquiries. (28/08) A 34 year old man was arrested on suspicion of Criminal Damage. He subsequently suffered a medical episode and was transported to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment. During this time, a 54 year old man at the address also collapsed and was transported to hospital where he later died. Neighbourhood Policing Team officers are patrolling the area, responding to any concerns from local residents. West Yorkshire Police have reported the circumstances to the IPCC and are cooperating fully with the enquiry into the incident to ensure all the circumstances are properly understood and investigated. Any witnesses to this incident who have not already spoken to police are asked to come forward and assist with the enquiry. The Independent Police Complaints Commission are currently investigating an incident on the 28th of August at Grasmere Court, Wortley, Leeds. During the incident, where a 34 year old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, a 54 year old man collapsed and was taken to hospital where he later died. West Yorkshire Police has suspended two police officers and two PCSOs,

as part of this ongoing investigation. The suspension of the officers is in response to the initial investigation by the IPCC. West Yorkshire Police is providing its full cooperation to the investigation; no further comment can be made while the IPCC investigation is under way. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Griffin, who heads the Leeds District Proceeds of Crime Act Team, said: "Revill abused his position of trust and defrauded his employer on a massive scale to feed his addiction to online gambling. "His actions have destroyed his life and affected a number of businesses. This case clearly highlights the very serious consequences of gambling addiction and illustrates how effective the Proceeds of Crime Act is in helping us to tackle offences of this nature." West Yorkshire Police are currently assisting West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service as they deal with a fire at a commercial premises on Leeds Road, Rawdon, Leeds. The A65 between the Rawdon cross crossroads and the Horsforth roundabout is currently closed as the incident remains on going. Considerable disruption is expected. This is an ongoing incident. At 2.24pm on Sunday (8/9) police were called to Bradford Royal Infirmary hospital following reports that a female had fallen from the fouth floor of the building. The injured female has been transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where she remains in a critical but stable condition today. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and enquiries are ongoing. Police are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault by a man on a 15-year-old girl in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury, which is said to have happened some time between 10pm and midnight yesterday (6/9). A scene is in place in the park and enquiries are ongoing. A man has been arrested after two children were approached in a park in Wetherby. Police were contacted after an 11-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl were approached by a man in a park off Hallfield Lane, in Wetherby, at about 4.20pm on Wednesday (4/9). He was said to have asked them to look for a lost ball and offered them ice cream and money. The children were suspicious and ran home and the police were informed. A 19-year-old man from Leeds was later arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. At 10am today police were contacted about the discovery of the body of a teenage boy in woods off Backhold Lane, Halifax. A scene is in place and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances. Police are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault on a male in the 2) area of Bradford at around 3.10pm today. A 43-year-old Bradford man has been arrested in connection with the

incident and enquiries, which are at an early stage, are ongoing by Detectives this evening. "We can confirm that at about 3pm today (7/7) a 47-year-old inmate at HMP Wakefield was assaulted. His has been taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening. He will be returned to prison after treatment. Police are investigating the incident. "Issues previously forwarded to the IPCC for consideration are still with them and we await the result of their considerations. Further enquiries on those matters should be directed to them. Our investigations into Savile's crimes are continuing and remain focused on working with other agencies to support victims." Police were called at around 5pm this afternoon to a report of a street robbery in Pine Court in Leeds city centre. A -year-old man was said to have been knocked to the floor and assaulted and had his mobile phone stolen after being approached by a group of men. Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information is asked to contact the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111. Police were called to reports of a vehicle having crashed into the gates of a building on Horton Park Avenue, Bradford at 12.42am on Saturday 14 September. The vehicle was on fire. No one was injured. It is thought the vehicle had been broken into and had then rolled down the hill. A woman was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. If asked about the mosque being attacked - not believed to be an attack against the mosque Police were called to reports of criminal damage committed against a number of school buses. The incidents happened on Wetherby Road at approximately 3pm. A number of buses had their windows damaged by what officers believe to be a ball bearing gun. Enquiries into the incident remain on going and any witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101. Shortly after 10am today police executing a warrant at an address in 2) came across a suspicious item. An Army bomb disposal team have been called to examine it. A -year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences. IF ASKED PRE SENTENCING Chief Supt Andy Battle of Wakefield District Police: "We welcome Austerfield's guilty plea which will spare his victim the ordeal of testifying in court. "He has betrayed the trust of his colleagues, members of the youth club and the people of Wakefield he was employed to serve.

"Austerfield was suspended and a full and thorough Police investigation was conducted into his behaviour as soon as a complaint was made against him. We hope this case will demonstrate that criminal acts by Police employees will absolutely not be tolerated and we will pursue criminal convictions where appropriate. "I would always encourage anyone who is victim of sexual offences to contact the Police. All reports will be thoroughly investigated." ON SENTENCE Chief Supt Andy Battle of Wakefield District Police: "We welcome the sentencing of Liam Austerfield today for what were very serious offences. "He has betrayed the trust of his colleagues, members of the youth club and the people of Wakefield he was employed to serve. "Austerfield was suspended and a full and thorough Police investigation was conducted into his behaviour as soon as a complaint was made against him. We hope this case will demonstrate that criminal acts by Police employees will absolutely not be tolerated and we will pursue criminal convictions where appropriate. "I would always encourage anyone who is victim of sexual offences to contact the Police. All reports will be thoroughly investigated." Shortly after 2pm yesterday (16/9) police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending a farm in Town Gate, Calverley. A 24-year-old male employee was found dead. The Coroner has been informed and a joint investigation is being conducted by West Yorkshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive. Assistant Chief Constable John Robins of West Yorkshire Police said: "We are pleased with today's judgement and the awarding of costs, which I feel justifies our decision to bring this case. "We understand the decision of the Judge to grant permission to appeal to the Court of Appeal (the highest court within the senior courts). The case was on a very important legal issue that has never been considered in detail in this court and we would welcome the opportunity for the Court of Appeal to provide authoritative guidance on this issue." Steven Banner, aged 36, of Keighley, has been charged with rape of a child under 13 and three offences of possession/making indecent images of children. At about 10pm last night police were called to Leeds Bradford International Airport where they arrested an airline pilot on suspicion of carrying out an activity ancillary to an aviation function while impaired by drink.
