All participants must understand that geocaching, as well as hiking, backpacking and other outdoor activities involve risk to both persons and property. There are many variables including, but not limited to, weather, fitness level, terrain features and outdoor experience, that must be considered prior to seeking a cache. Be prepared for your journey and be sure to check the current weather and conditions before heading outdoors. Always exercise common sense and caution. The Spring Grove Area Chamber of Commerce meets the fourth Friday of each month (third Friday in November and December due to the holidays) from 8:00 to 9:00 AM in the dining room of the Spring Grove VFW Post 5265 located at 199 West First Avenue in Spring Grove. Breakfast is served prior to each meeting starting at 7:30 AM. Special Thanks to the Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society Project Sponsor The Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society was formed in March, 1986. The purpose of the Society is to provide historical legacy for this and future generations of the Spring Grove area residents. The objective is to promote historic preservation and appreciation of heritage, especially among young people. The Historical Society started with a museum in one room in the Spring Grove Area District Educational Service Center in 1997, they moved to its current location in the Spring Grove Area Community Center in April 2000. There are three artifact rooms comprised of approximately 3,000 square feet. All volunteers coordinate collection, storage and display and maintain inventory record of all artifacts. There is an exhibit of former one room country schools, antique classroom furniture, a library of old books and textbooks, school memorabilia and trophies, also photographs of school classes dating back to late 19th century. There is also a display of local organizations, business and churches within the Spring Grove area. The exhibit area features photographs, military uniforms and gear etc. to recognize local serve men and women beginning with World War I to present day. One room is dedicated to show furniture and life as it was in earlier years from old stoves, washing machine, rope beds etc. The Society identifies, documents, and provides historical markers for Historical Sites in the Spring Grove area. Bronze plaques inscribed with the Society logo, are placed on the designated buildings. The Society encourages and arranges special tours of the museum for school groups, scouting groups etc. The Society always takes advantage of every opportunity to conduct an "open house" for the general public.
