. WEST AFRICA CW ALERT 7 4/8/8 7 UTC GENERAL ALERT 8. 55 N 9. E It has been reported that a tanker has gone missing approximately 8nm west of Libreville. The last communication was on August 8 at approximately : UTC. No communication since has been received from the vessel. The fate of the crew and vessel is currently unknown. Clearwater will continue to investigate this incident and will update accordingly. UPDATE : Information has been received that the tanker has been located visually by another vessel. Unconfirmed reports state that the crew are safe. UPDATE : The IMB have confirmed that the tanker and crew have arrived safely at Lome. CW ALERT 7 CW ALERT 9 /8/8 4 LT ROBBERY 4 4. N 7 9. 5 E CW ALERT 9 Clearwater has received a report that robbers were able to board an anchored crew boat at Onne Port anchorage. Four robbers came alongside the vessel in a speed boat and were spotted by a guard onboard. Before the alarm could be raised, one of the robbers restrained the guard and held him at gunpoint allowing the remaining robbers to steal cans of oil before escaping. No injuries were reported. The incident was reported to the Port Authorities. CW ALERT CW ALERT 5/8/8 7 LT PIRATE ATTACK 4. N 7 4. E Clearwater has received a report that a Government Security Force patrol vessel was attacked by pirates whilst underway in the Cawthorne Channel, 6nm Northwest of Bonny town. During the incident several pirates and a soldier onboard the patrol vessel were wounded by gunshots. . WEST AFRICA CW ALERT 7/8/8 UNKNOWN PIRATE ATTACK 4. 6 N 6. 4 E It has been reported that a market boat was attacked whilst underway in the Igbematoru Koluama Creek. The report states that armed men openedfire on the vessel leaving three persons onboard with critical gunshot injuries. CW ALERT 8 /8/8 5 LT ROBBERY 4. 7 N 9 45. 5 E CW ALERT It has been reported that two unknown persons managed to board an anchored Bulk carrier at Kribi anchorage area. The report states that one of the intruders may have had a weapon but this is not confirmed. The Duty Officer raised the alarm and informed the Cameroon Navy. . SOUTH EAST ASIA CW ALERT /8/8 6 UTC GENERAL ALERT 6 7. N 8 4. E It has been reported by Philippines intelligence that the Abu Sayef Group are planning to conduct kidnappings off Gulisan Island. It has been stated that the Group are targeting foreign persons and vessels. The report states that the Abu Sayef Group have spotters in the area that will guide other operatives on the water to Gulisan Island as they execute their kidnapping plan. Vessels are advised to take extreme caution. UPDATE: The IMB have confirmed that this warning has now been downgraded back to normal. Philippines intelligence state that the plan by the Abu Sayef Group to conduct kidnappings still stands, however there are no confirmed details currently available. Vessels are reminded to maintain a strict anti-piracy watch and take additional protective measures in these waters. CW ALERT /8/8 5 LT ROBBERY 4. S 7. 7 E It has been reported that the duty crew on board an anchored bulk carrier at Samarinda anchorage discovered five robbers on the forecastle deck armed with knives. the Duty Officer was informed and the alarm raised. S 6 5. 4 E It has been reported that robbers managed to board an anchored bulk carrier at Tanjung Priok anchorage, Jakarta. The robbers stole engine spares and escaped unnoticed. The theft was discovered during routine rounds which resulted in a search of the vessel being carried out. E It has been reported that six robbers managed to board an anchored tanker off Kutubdia anchorage from a small boat using a rope attached to a hook. Once on board, the robbers stole ships stores and properties before escaping. The theft was reported to the Bangladesh Coast Guard who carried out a search of the vicinity. CW ALERT 4 CW ALERT 6 /8/8 8 LT ROBBERY 5 9. N 9 9. E It has been reported that robbers were able to board a tug towing a barge 44nm Northwest of Bongao. Several robbers boarded the tug from speed boats, the crew spotted the intruders and secured all access points to the vessel. The local authorities were contacted and a security vessel was tasked to assist. The robbers were unable to enter the accommodation area of the tug due to the hardening measures in place. As they spotted the approaching security vessel, they made their escape empty handed. The tug continued onto her destination Port. All crew are reported safe. Six robbers were spotted stealing the vessels mooring ropes. The alarm was raised and the crew mustered which resulted in the robbers making their escape. The incident was reported to the local authorities. Two robbers attempted to access the bulk carrier via the anchor chain whilst cargo operations were being undertaken. Duty crew on watch spotted the robbers and raised the alarm. Upon hearing the alarm and seeing the crew mustering, the robbers escaped into a boat. The incident was reported to the local agent. The duty crew observed the robbers and raised the alarm. Upon seeing the alerted crew, the robbers aborted their attempt at boarding and escaped. The incident was reported to the Coast Guard. 4. AMERICAS CW ALERT 5 5/8/8 LT ROBBERY 4. N 5 58. 5 W A report has been issued stating that robbers managed to board an anchored bulk carrier at Macapa anchorage unnoticed. They stole ships stores and made their escape. The incident was discovered during routine rounds. The local agent was informed. CW ALERT 8 /8/8 LT ROBBERY 4 5. 9 S 46 7. W CW ALERT 5 It has been reported that robbers boarded an anchored cargo vessel at Santos Anchorage. Up to four robbers were able to get onboard using a hook and rope and began opening the containers on deck. Duty crew spotted the perpetrators, alerted the authorities and raised the alarm. Upon hearing alarm the robbers made their escape empty handed. A full investigation was carried out by customs and the local police following the vessel berthing. CW ALERT 6 /8/8 5 LT ROBBERY. S 8. 9 W CW ALERT 6 It has been reported that a skiff with two persons on board came alongside a container vessel whilst underway in the Eestero Salada Passage, Guayaquil. The skiff was observed by the on board security guards who raised the alarm and switched on all deck lighting. Upon seeing the alerted crew, the persons in the skiff aborted their attempt to board and moved away. The incident was reported to the Guayaquil Port Control. 4. AMERICAS CW ALERT 7 8/8/8 45 LT ROBBERY. 9 N 8 5. W A report has been issued stating that three persons came alongside a container vessel underway at Guayaquil in a small skiff. The container vessel detected the skiff on radar as it approached. One person attempted to board whilst the other two displayed a handgun. Upon seeing the attempted boarding the crew sounded the ships horn continuously resulting in the attempt at boarding being aborted and the skiff moving away. The incident was reported to Guayaquil Port Control and the Coast Guard.
