4 Transport in Manchester Travelling from the airport: Taxi Private Hire & Black Cabs Both private hire vehicles and black cabs have pick-up points directly outside all three terminals at Manchester Airport. Arrow Cars is the Official Taxi Private Hire Company for Manchester Airport. Providing a professional and reliable service ensuring your journey is stress-free and hassle-free. Booking desks are located immediately outside arrivals at all terminals. Black cab taxis are available from all airport terminals for ease of travel either to or from the airport. A published tariff of maximum fares is displayed at taxi ranks, and your driver will advise you of the fare (which is negotiable) before beginning the journey Uber is available in Manchester for those who use the app. Trains Train services run frequently seven days a week through national train operators TransPennine Express and Northern Rail. Trains run every 10 minutes. (Approx 25 minute journey time, price approx 5) Bus There is a shuttle bus service that operates between Manchester airport and the city cente (approx 25 minutes, prices range from 5-9) Alternatively there is a bus service that operates between the airport and the city, the 43 bus (approx 45 minutes, price approx 3) Click on the link and go to > Ways to Travel > Bus > iin the search box to see the timetable: Metrolink Located in 'The Station', trams run every 12 minutes at all times and offers connections throughout the Greater Manchester area. More details about the metrolink services are on the following page. Cheap train travel is available from Manchester Airport's transport hub 'The Station. 4

You are able to travel directly from Manchester Airport to Manchester city centre. The number 6 line goes between Manchester Airport-Victoria Station.

5 You are able to travel directly from Manchester Airport to Manchester city centre. The number 6 line goes between Manchester Airport-Victoria Station. Victoria Station is in Manchester city centre and very close to the Co-operative quarter (page 3). If you buy a ticket that says city zone on it, you will be able to travel on any tram within the city later that day. If you buy a train ticket that says Manchester Stations, you are also able to travel on any city zone metrolink services. 5

6 Parking If you will be driving during your visit, there are two car parks very close to the co-operative quarter. 7 Local Co-ops In addition to the Co-operative Group and the co-operative organisations at Holyoake House, Manchester city centre has a number of co-operatives. Below is a list of just some of them: Redeye Gallery is a photography network that deliver a varied programme of talks, workshops, CPD, network events and symposiums as well as working on projects with partners. Manchester Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial co-operative serving people who live or work in Manchester, Tameside, Trafford, Rochdale, Bury and the High Peak. The Social Science Centre offers opportunities to engage in a co-operative experience of higher education. Amber Personal Management is an Actors Agency representing a select list of actors within Film, Television, Theatre, Radio and Voiceover. Future Artists is a community co-operative for creative industries, specialise in Live events and education. Greater Manchester Community Renewables (GMCR) is a community benefit society run by volunteers to install community owned renewable energy across Greater Manchester. URBED is a urban design and sustainability consultancy. 7

9 Shops There are plenty of pharmacies and food shops in the city centre. Below there is a list of what they are and where you can find them: Pharmacies: Boots A pharmacy led health and beauty retailer. You will find over-thecounter medicines, toiletries and beauty supplies here. There is also a walk-in health centre in the Boots on Market Street. There are a number of Boots stores in the city centre, including: Manchester Arndale Centre (Entrance on Market Street and Cross Street) Piccadilly Gardens Piccadilly Train Station Superdrug Also a health and beauty retailer. 10 Places to Eat and Drink Manchester is full of great restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs. There are a large number of independently owned establishments in Manchester s Northern Quarter (which is right next to the Co-operative Quarter).
