1 TEA Special Edition For the people of Tayside Contracts Issue 66 - June 2017 Awards For Excellence 2017 Tayside Contracts Tayside contracts
2 From L to R: David Bowes, Jim Houston, Carol Smillie, Novella Tragham, Iain Waddell /17 was an excellent year for Tayside 2016 Contracts, being our 21st year in existence. Our performance again exceeded expectations in all areas of our operations. How fitting it is that we should, once again, have a glittering showcase event to recognise at least some of the people who made this possible. This special edition of Target is published to commemorate our eighth successful celebration evening and features the finalists and winners of each of the awards. The Excellence Awards were introduced to recognise and showcase the achievements of our employees. Our workforce is our greatest asset and I cannot stress enough how important you all are. Simply put, without you and the outstanding contribution you make year after year there would be no Tayside Contracts. Almost four hundred people attended the 2017 awards ceremony, which was presented by television presenter, Carol Smillie. The attendees included nominees, employees, sponsors and guests reflecting Tayside Contracts wide range of business partners, representatives of the constituent Councils of Tayside and our own Joint Committee. Once again the evening was sponsored by our generous suppliers and business partners, without whom we could not have held the awards ceremony, so special thanks must be extended to all of them. The feedback following the awards ceremony from employees, sponsors and VIPs has, once again, been overwhelmingly positive. After previous successful events it didn t seem that there was much room for improvement, but again this year s Project Team excelled themselves. The 2016/17 Project Team (pictured below) from left to right are Frank Reilly (Project Leader) (not pictured), John Bow, Carol Haxton, Gail McMillan, Jane Deasley, Kenny Taylor, Mary McKay, Shona Hamilton, Novella Tragham (Project Manager) and Ewan McNaughton. The award winners were decided by a judging panel which I chaired and which comprised Councillor, Jim Houston, Convener of Tayside Contracts Joint Committee and Vice-Convenor Councillor David Bowes. Once again the judging panel was impressed by the standard of nominations received for all the awards. It was not easy to select the fourteen winners from the many finalists, who in turn were selected from the nearly two and a half thousand people who work here at Tayside Contracts. I am well aware that whilst the awards ceremony was about recognising those who were shortlisted and won awards there are many more of you working for Tayside Contracts and making contributions that are just as outstanding as the awards winners. So, let me take this opportunity to thank all of you once again for your invaluable contribution during 2016/17. I am also delighted to say that during the course of the evening, 2,633 was donated to local charities namely, The Scottish Air Ambulance Service and Children s Hospice Association Scotland. The Tayside Contracts Excellence Awards Ceremony was yet again a wonderful gala evening and I sincerely hope that many more of you will have the opportunity to experience it in the years to come hopefully as winners!
