LTN 1/98 recommends the practices to be followed when installing traffic signals, signal controlled crossings and associated equipment. It also describes the installation of temporary signals, school crossing patrol signs and warning lights. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE 1. Remove TA 13/81 and TA 14/81 from Volume 8, Section 1, Part 1 and archive them as appropriate. 2. Insert TA 82/99 into Volume 8, Section Archive this sheet as appropriate. Note: 1. LTN 1/98 is not included in this Advice Note but is available separately from The Stationery Office. 2. INTRODUCTION Local Transport Notes 1/ LTN 1/98, The Installation of Traffic Signals and Associated Equipment, has been produced by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions on behalf of the Welsh Office, Scottish Office and the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland. TA 82/99 incorporates LTN 1/98 into the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges. This Document supersedes TA 13 (DMRB 8.1) and TA 14 (DMRB 8.1). Scope 1.2 LTN 1/98 recommends the practices to be followed when installing traffic signals, signal controlled crossings and associated equipment. Implementation 1.3 This Advice Note should be used forthwith when installing road schemes, including those currently being progressed, unless directed otherwise by the Overseeing Organisation.
