STV Children s Appeal is committed to helping children affected by poverty right here in Scotland. 1 in 4 children in Scotland LIVES IN POVERTY STV Children s Appeal wants to do something about this. The STV Children s Appeal was launched in 2011 BY STV AND THE HUNTER FOUNDATION. To date, the Children s Appeal has raised AN AMAZING 13.7 MILLION generating 722 BIG AND SMALL AWARDS to projects across Scotland. This means we ve been able to help OVER 62,000 children. The STV Appeal SCIO SCO42429

STV Children s Appeal promises to: Give every penny of every pound that you donate to the children who need it most right here in Scotland. Give a voice to children who can t be heard. Support a community project in every single local authority in Scotland. Create chances for every child to realise their full potential.

Befriend a Child Aberdeen Befriend a Child Aberdeen is a one-to-one befriending scheme, where children are matched with a volunteer befriender who takes the child to enjoy fun activities that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience due to their family and home circumstances. Thanks to the STV Children s Appeal the children now have the opportunity of taking part in outings and activities that were unavailable to them. This enables the children to go back into school on a Monday morning and talk about what they have done with their befriender at a weekend. They then feel included, they are accepted and have better interaction with their peers which is a great boost to their self-confidence and self-esteem. Jean Gordon Befriending Development Manager

This grant awarded to DadsWork is very much appreciated. It will give us an opportunity as a family to make soup and pizzas outdoors using the pizza oven and fire pit in the Community Garden. The garden will provide a space for dads and their children to bond and create good times together with memories for life. Andrew Stevenson, Service User, DadsWork

Glasgow Children s Hospital Charity The Family Support Project will provide immediate financial and emotional relief to families who struggle to cope with the pressures of caring for their ill children. The project will also provide families with the tools and skills they need to support themselves in the long term, to prevent poverty cycles recurring. Having a child in hospital can be one of the most frightening and stressful experiences for any parent or carer, without having the added worry of how you will cope financially. This project will provide support, reassurance and comfort to many of Scotland s most vulnerable families, listening to their needs and helping them to find a suitable path forward. - Shona Cardle, Chief Executive, Glasgow Children s Hospital Charity

Black Isle Need To Play Black Isle Need To Play helps families in small ways that make a real difference to their lives, providing resources or experiences including transport to and from swimming lessons or holiday clubs, family outings and funding to help with Christmas presents. We are very grateful for this funding from the STV Children s Appeal which will help us continue to support the needs of many families on the Black Isle. We feel families who have children with additional needs face an uphill struggle and we will do whatever we can to give them some special moments. - Marion Laidlaw, Black Isle Need To Play Western Isles Barra Water Sports Development The Shed Stornoway Horshader Community Development West Lothian River Kids Families and Community Development West Lothian (FCDWL) Carers of West Lothian Ayrshire-wide Blameless Ayrshire Sportability Centrestage Scotland-wide The Butterfly Trust Lickity Split Place-2-Be Crossreach Scottish Refugee Council Seasons for Growth Whizz Kids Dream Holidays Poverty Truth Commission The Scottish Nurture Network Street Soccer Scotland Sported Glasgow Children s Hospital Charity Families First Buttle CHAS Families Outside Who Cares Scotland?
