1 Phone: Spring 2017 Renaissance Row on Front Street Setting the Foundation for Steelton s Future Renaissance Row on Front Street will incorporate industrial design elements inspired by Steelton s industrial heritage. After over ten years of hard work, North Front Street will see the redevelopment we have been waiting for. Philadelphia-based development firm Chariot Companies will develop the properties across from Borough Hall into Renaissance Row on Front Street. Renaissance Row is anticipated to include: A 15,690 square foot grocery store 50,000 square feet of retail shops 50,000 square feet of commercial/flex space 45,000 square feet of new residential space Chariot Companies, LLC is a Philadelphia-based firm with a mission-based focus on redeveloping urban areas. Chariot has a strong portfolio of successful developments up and down the East Coast and brings a rich knowledge, passion, and expertise to this project. A public plaza to support community and commercial events The Renaissance Row Project and Chariot s investment marks the beginning of Steelton s long-term revitalization. Work on the project is expected to begin in Fall 2017.

2 Chlorine Contact Tank/DBP Compliance Project Nearing Completion Construction crews continue to make substantial progress on the Disinfection Byproducts Rule Compliance Project aka the Chlorine Contact Tank. This project, funded by a PENNVEST loan, constructs a 260,000 gallon chlorine contact tank at the Steelton Water Filtration Plant. The tank will allow for the chlorination of water post-filtration, greatly minimizing the occurrence of disinfection byproducts and addressing the source of recent non-emergency violation notices.. The Steelton Water Authority sincerely thanks all residents and customers for their patience as this substantial capital improvement is completed. The project is expected to be completed and operational by the Fall 2017.

3 The Steelton Skate Park: A Bold Project for a Bold Borough In the summer of 2016, Dauphin County Commissioner Jeff Haste posed a challenge to Dauphin County municipalities: build a skate park to serve an existing need in the region. Steelton Borough answered the challenge and in partnership with Dauphin County will break ground on the Harrisburg region s first and only open skate park on May 9th. The Steelton Skate Park not only provides a safe place to skate for the many youth and adults that use the streets of Steelton, it also provides an economic development and tourism opportunity as a destination for action sports enthusiasts. Contrary to popular belief, skateboarders span all age groups and all demographics: from teenagers and young adults to established professionals. Skateboarding has grown to become a $5 billion industry with skate parks proven drivers of economic development. The Steelton Skate Park will open in August 2017 and will be free for daily use. Adams Street Townhouse Project: Moving Ahead in 2017 The wait is over for the new residential development on Adams Street. Later this year, Tri- County Housing Development Corporation is expected to break ground on Phase I of the Adams Street Townhouse Project. TCHDC will build 12 new town homes on the existing open lot near Adams and Second Streets. These townhomes will be available as lease-to-own properties in order to foster new home ownership in the Borough. Current plans for the townhouse project have been submitted to the Steelton Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Boards. After recommendations and approvals by both boards and Council, the project will be essentially shovelready.

4 Tot Lot Coming to Mohn Street Park A brand new tot lot playground will be installed at Mohn Street Park this May. The tot lot will feature a playground with slides, see-saws, drums, spring riders, and other fun features. All families and residents are welcome to use the tot lot once it is completed. This project is funded through a Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Grant. It is expected to be finished by May 29th. Mayor: Thomas F. Each Monday, the Steelton Police Department will transform one park in the Borough into a party for the whole family. Activities include: kick ball, board games, arts/crafts, basketball, and much more. No registration is necessary. Just show up with your family and enjoy the fun. These people don t just talk about wanting a cleaner, litterfree town; they take action. 10 Reminders from the Steelton Police Department: Don t Get a Ticket. Stay Out of the Street Sweeper Route The Steelton Police Department will be issuing tickets to any vehicle parked in the path of the street sweeper. Look for posted signs designating the days and times the street is No Parking. DO NOT PARK in the street sweeper routes on the dates and times posted. The street sweeper route must be clear in order for us to adequately clean debris and litter off of the streets. Help keep Steelton clean and avoid a ticket: stay clear of the street sweeper. Sweeps for Summary Warrants to Begin The Steelton Police Department is urging all residents with summary warrants to clear their warrants or face being arrested. The police will perform sweeps of the Borough for anyone with outstanding summary warrants. Avoid being arrested; take care of your warrants. Opening on Steelton Borough Zoning Hearing Board Steelton Borough is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the Zoning Hearing Board. Applicants must be residents of Steelton Borough, willing to serve a term of up to three years, and able to attend meetings the third Thursday of every month at 6pm. Knowledge in local government zoning and planning is preferred. Applicants cannot hold elected or appointed office in the Borough nor be an employee of the Borough. The Zoning Hearing Board renders decisions on variances to the Borough Zoning Ordinance as well as other special exceptions. Interested applicants must submit a resume to Douglas E.
