2 Sketchbooks of Robert Somerville FRSE, [incomplete]. The missing years were doubtless contained in the sketchbooks which Gay Somerville gave to Dunfermline Library. They might have contained: and 1904 Aboyne; 1906 St Andrews; 1914 Innerleithen and Tweed; 1916 Fort William; 1917, 1918 and 1919 Tayside and Grandtully; 1923 Skelmorlie and Clyde; 1926 Hexham. To avoid confusion the original numbering of the sketchbooks has been retained. They contain landscapes and some botanical drawings, mostly Scottish, but there are also sketches from England and Europe. Some of these have been published in Dunfermline Sketches & Notes (Dunfermline, 1917), Somerville had close links with Dunfermline High School, where he was for some time chemistry master.
