3 No Stuff Zone We have had a very big problem in the past with keeping track of everyone s belongings during the shows. With so many children being backstage it has just been very difficult for our volunteers to keep track of who belongs to what and have had to deal with upset parents at the end of the shows because they can t find their child s belongings. We have tried many different methods over the years to try to remedy this situation but nothing seems to help so this year we are instituting a no stuff zone. What this means is if your child is in our Preschool or Angelina Shows we are asking you to please keep all of your child s belongings with you and to not send anything with your child backstage except what they need. So before your child enters the backstage area we ask that you put their dance shoes on and then take their coats and outside shoes with you. There will be plenty of activities to keep them busy backstage so they will not need to bring anything else with them.. PLEASE FEED YOUR CHILD BEFORE YOU DROP THEM OFF! We thank you in advance for your corporation on this matter! Drop Off Point As you enter the main doors of The Boyce Theatre you will be directed by a staff member to the backstage area. At this point we ask that your child be ready to enter the backstage area (dance shoes on and ready to go!). They then will be checked in by a Summit Staff member. This is the point that you will leave your child with us. Parents please note: You will not be allowed to go backstage during the show. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR CHILD PLEASE VOLUNTEER! Please be prepared that our shows are very LARGE and that there are A LOT of people in the theatre. Your patience is appreciated! Volunteers Star Parent Volunteers We will once again be in need of your help! We need two volunteers per group. If we do not get two people per group that group will not be allowed to dance! Please note that when you volunteer there is WORK involved. You are responsible for the well being of your group as well as there whereabouts. You will be provided with a class list as well as costume information. Star Parent volunteers: (back stage) 1. Responsible for keeping the class together and tend to any problems that may arise during the time back stage. 2. Helping the dancers to the washroom and with fixing their costumes if needed. 3. Communicating with the coordinators any concerns or questions that might arise during the performance. BACK STAGE VOLUNTEERS DUTIES START AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW AND END AT THE END OF THE SHOW WHEN ALL THE CHILDREN ARE PICKED UP. Please note that we can not have Dads backstage (sorry Dads - we do have some other great jobs that you can help us out with!) due to quick changes. To Volunteer Please visit the following link to fill out our volunteer form. This form needs to be filled out and ed back to us by MAY 15. The form has all the information that we will be needing from you. You will be contacted one week out from recital date with more information. We must remind you that if we do not get enough volunteers your child's class will not dance. Thanks in advance to helping us out! We can not do this with out you! Please Arrive On Time! Have a question about the Recital? Please call our office at

5 Make Up This year we took on the task to create our own make up line! We have been working very hard to get these products ready to launch for our shows this year and we are very excited to let you know the we are introducing the Summit Stage Make Up line! All of our NEW products are Made in Canada Fragrance free Hypoallergenic Non-comedogenic Allergy tested All of our formulas are specifically designed for the stage. This means that all colours are very intense and made for stage lighting. We want to make sure that you can see your child s face from the audience! Make up really does make a difference! We do recommend this to our preschool and Angelina students. Have a question about the Recital? Please call our office at Recital Kit Your exclusive kit will include the following eye/lip primer in one eye shadow (light pink) red lipstick mascara blush Kits are priced at $ To order your kit please visit our online store at WE RECOMMEND OUR RECITAL KIT TO OUR PRESCHOOL/ANGELINA STUDENTS FAMILIES AS WELL. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN SEE YOUR CHILD S FACE FROM THE STAGE! A how to video is available on our video gallery at It is a step by step guide on how to apply your child s make up. Please check it out! Hair Hair for the recital will be a bun with no bangs. If your child does not have hair long enough to be put into a bun just use their natural style. As part of our All Inclusive Recital Package you all will be receiving a bun maker. The Bun Maker will make things very easy for you! If you need a demo on how to use your bun maker please ask one of us and we would be happy to show you! Costumes No Panties: We do not wear our panties under our body suits! Even to class! Our body suits are made especially for us so that we do not have to. If your child has been wearing their panties to class start practicing NOW! If you are having trouble with this please ask your teacher and she will help you out with it! Lots of times when our little gals see that WE are not wearing our panties it will then be ok for them too! Bras If you are wearing a bra under your costume please make sure that it is NUDE. * If we see coloured bras under costumes we will make you remove them!* Please pin bra straps to your costume or get nude / clear coloured straps. Shoes Your child must be in the proper footwear for their class. Jazz Classes... Black slip on jazz oxfords Hip Hop... Jazz sneakers Preschool Classes... Your teacher will let you know which shoes you will need (either tap or ballet) Angelina Ballerina... Ballet slippers

6 Recital Quick Changes If your child is participating in more than one number (if they are in more then one class) for the recital please provide them with a BIG plastic tote (Rubbermaid container) with a lid. Please write or tape their name onto the front and side of the container. This will be for all of their stuff. We have found in the past that costumes, tights, shoes etc are getting lost in the quick change shuffle. If we all have our own tote then all of our things will (hopefully :) get back into our box. This will also keep backstage a little more organized. As well it is very helpful for your child to have a NUDE bodysuit if they are doing quick changes. Recording Equipment There will be ABSOLUTELY NO RECORDING DEVICES allowed into the theater for the recital. This will include video cameras, digital cameras, regular cameras, phone cameras or any other mechanical recording devices. The recital is being professionally video taped and ed to you. Please remember that you are viewing your child in COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL. The other reason we insist that there are no recording devices is that they interfere with our technical equipment to run the show and lastly they are a distraction to the dancers as well as the people sitting around you. PLEASE BE FOREWARNED if you are seen entering the theatre with any of the above devices you will be asked to return them to your vehicle. Thank you in advance for your understanding. Flowers Flowers will be available for purchase at the theatre. What a great way to show your dancer how well they did! Pictures We understand that you would like the opportunity to have class and individual pictures of your child in their year end recital costume. We have brought in photographers in the past but they have had a hard time meeting their minims. So we have decided to set up a time that you the parent can bring in your own camera and take as many pictures as you want! Class and individual pictures will be taking place during the last week of classes during your child s regularly scheduled class. More information will be available as we get closer to this date. Have a question about the Recital? Please call our office at
