4 WATKINS GLEN Watkins Glen International, RACE (7223) Located in Watkins Glen, New York, Watkins Glen International is America s premier racing facility and is nicknamed The Glen. This historic road course was long known as the home of the United States Grand Prix, but it has been home to road racing for over 50 years. The Glen hosts several racing events each season the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car and KONI Challenge Series and the SVRA U.S. Vintage Grand Prix, considered the nation s largest vintage motorsports event. Watkins Glen State Park, (607) Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous park in the region, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. In 2005, the park was named one of Reserve America's top outdoor locations and one of the top 100 campgrounds nationwide. JUST A SHORT DRIVE AWAY Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, (607) The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum contains a comprehensive, priceless collection of historical aircraft relating to early aviation and local history. In addition to seeing the museum displays and exhibits, visitors are welcome to visit the Restoration Shop, talk with volunteer craftsman and watch them work on historic aircraft. In addition to motorcycles and aircraft, visitors will also see antique tools, toys, boats, home-furnishings, fire equipment and much more. There s something there for everyone! The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum is open year-round with varying hours and is located on Route 54, one half mile south of the village of Hammondsport, New York. Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and as the Pine Creek Gorge, the PA Canyon stretches for over 45 miles with depths of nearly 1500 feet and is surrounded by 165,000 acres of state forest. Its dynamic topography creates many scenic wonders, including steep canyon walls and waterfalls. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon is part of the Tioga State Forest, beginning just south of Ansonia, Pennsylvania, and continuing south to Waterville. The overlooks at Leonard Harrison and Colton Point offer the most spectacular views of the Canyon. The hiking trail from Leonard Harrison State Park winds past waterfalls and steeply descends one mile to the Canyon floor. Touting numerous developed trails, the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania is a hikers paradise. Floating, boating, fishing, hiking and biking are all part of the area's available outdoor adventures.
