4 Section 8 Photography * All entries must be photographed by the person whose name appears on the registration form. * All photography to be framed and ready to be hung for display or already placed in a standing frame. * No nude art permitted. * Photo s need to be 4 x 6, 5 x 7, or 8 x 10 Abstract Creates a scene where the subject matter may not be definite but creates a pleasing arrangement. Animals Captures the personality of an animal or animals either in their natural settings or at play. Americana Norman Rockwell type shots that didn t exactly fit in the Historical category but often featured barns, pasture scenes, front porches, kids on tire swings. Architectural A shot that focuses on the unique architectural features of a building without a lot of background. Flower Focuses on flowers as the main subject of the photograph. Can be a close up. Historical A shot that portrays history in landmark buildings, re-enactments, live historical museum demonstrations, etc. Landscape Shows any variety of outdoor scenes which focus on natural landforms and vegetation, and does not include people. Micro/macro is extreme close-up photography of usually very small objects. Patriotic Subject matter portrays the love of one s country. Could have flags, soldiers, etc. Portrait Captures the personality of the human subject, either as a headshot or full shot. Props may be included in portraits. Seascape Similar to landscape, but focuses on natural landforms and water features of the sea and its surrounding beaches. SnowScene Similar to landscape, but focuses on winter scenes. Sports Shows active movement in a sporting activity, focusing on a player (or players) caught in action. StillLife Focuses on mostly commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, etc.) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, etc.) in a pleasing arrangement. Sunsets/sunrises Focuses in the sky and its variety of colors in a sunrise or sunset and should include landscape, seascape, etc. in the scene. Texture A close-up shot that captures the texture only of an object. Water Similar to landscape, but focuses on water. Whimsical Photos to make you laugh through their playful or humorous subject matter.
