Welcome to Selly Manor Selly Manor Museum s two distinct and beautiful buildings have fascinating histories, with close links to world famous chocolatemaker George Cadbury and his son Laurence.

2 Welcome to Selly Manor Selly Manor Museum s two distinct and beautiful buildings have fascinating histories, with close links to world famous chocolatemaker George Cadbury and his son Laurence. Originally a large farmhouse, Selly Manor dates back to the late 15th century. By the late 19th century, it was divided into three dwellings occupied by different families, then during the early 20th century it fell into a poor state with an uncertain future. George Cadbury, founder of Bournville, bought the building in 1907 and arranged for it to be moved from Selly Oak to where it stands today. Standing alongside Selly Manor is the impressive Minworth Greaves. Thought to date from the 13th century, it was moved, from about 12 miles away, and re-built in 1932 by Laurence Cadbury. Explore the six rooms of Selly Manor containing the Laurence Cadbury Collection of period furniture and domestic objects. Try on armour and costumes. Smell the spices. Handle objects. This year, we are celebrating extraordinary women, and re-enactors Gloriana will bring the museum to life with fabulous costumes and music. Free entry Moor Pool Garden Suburb Heritage Talk 4th October, 7pm Explore the origins of the unique Moor Pool Estate, looking at the history of this enchanting Edwardian Garden Suburb, one of Birmingham s best kept architectural secrets. 6 OCT - DEC Ghostly Goings On 29th October 2nd November, 10am 5pm Jeepers creepers it s our Halloween spooktacular! Family fun for the brave - with yucky boxes to delve into, a ghostly trail, dressing up and children s crafts to make. Adults 4, Concessions 3, Children 2.50, Family (2+3) 13, Under 3 s free Christmas Craft Fair and Santa s Grotto 24th November, 11am 4pm Get into the festive spirit and buy some unique local handmade crafts at our popular Craft Fair. There is something for everyone as local people from Bournville and beyond sell their crafts. Plus, visit our now famous Santa s Grotto for a special Christmas experience. Free entry to the Craft Fair, booking essential for the Grotto- 6 per child Bournville Christmas Festival 1st December, 12pm 5pm See the beautiful manor house lit by candlelight, and evoke the feel of Christmasses long ago. Keep the children entertained with Christmas lantern making and our elf trail. 7 Wedding Ceremonies We are the perfect venue for an intimate civil wedding ceremony, held in the beautiful medieval hall of Minworth Greaves, a romantic and historic setting. School Groups Our visits for school groups cover The Great Fire of London, The Tudors, Bournville and much more. All visits are linked to the National Curriculum. Adult Groups We provide fascinating guided tours of Selly Manor, Minworth Greaves and Bournville village green. We also give illustrated talks at the museum or at your own venue. Children s Parties Celebrate your birthday in style as a knight, princess or pirate. We host fun-filled birthday parties for children aged 5-10 on weekends at 11am-12.30pm. Weekend Guided Tours Throughout June, July and August join a regular weekend tour with our knowledgeable guides. Each tour lasts about an hour and delves into the history of the manor and its collection. Please see our website for times and dates normal admission charges apply.
