2 Welcome The Roman Baths is one of the finest ancient spas in Europe. This incredible Roman site allows visitors to experience a world dating from the first to the fourth century AD. Here the natural thermal waters once heated a sophisticated bathing complex where Romans came to relax and socialise. To the Romans the hot springs were sacred and where worshippers prayed to the goddess Sulis Minerva. To visitors today the site is still a place of special significance. Here you can walk on ancient pavements as you explore one of the best preserved Roman sites in northern Europe. The Roman Baths and Temple bear witness to the genius of Roman engineering, which can still be seen today through the awe-inspiring drainage systems and underfloor heating. 3 Magical Summer Evenings Slow down time and experience the captivating beauty of the Great Bath, lit by flickering firelight. Between 16 June and 31 August you can linger as the sun sets, with all areas open until 10pm (last entry 9pm). Take a breather from the crowds and enjoy a drink from our pop-up rosecco Bar. 4 Discover In the museum you can discover the ancient wonders of Aquae Sulis. From the Gorgon s head that dominates the Temple pediment, to the treasure trove of Roman coins from the Beau Street Hoard, these objects give an insight into how the Romans lived, worked and prayed. Explore Immerse yourself in history as you explore the Temple recinct, where Romans once worshipped. Once taking pride of place in the Temple, the striking gilt-bronze head of the goddess Sulis Minerva is one of the most iconic and rare treasures of Roman Britain.

6 Meet the Romans Come face to face with history. Meet our real Roman characters, whom you ll find living and working by the Great Bath every day. Ask them about their life as a slave, a Celtic stonemason, or even a Roman soldier. The East Baths Experience a working bathhouse through the projections overlaid onto the bathing pools and changing areas of the East Baths; a place where women would have socialised and bathed. The West Baths Visit the circular plunge pool in the West Baths, once filled with icy cold water. Animated projections bring to life this area where men would have completed their spa visit. The impressive hypocaust stacks in the adjacent hot rooms show how advanced the Roman engineers were.

7 Audioguides Your ticket includes a complimentary audioguide, available in 12 languages. A British Sign Language tour and a fully descriptive audio tour for visually impaired visitors are also available. Learn Students from primary right through to higher education can access a wide range of study opportunities at the Roman Baths. The historic site provides out-of-school opportunities through its annual events programme. We are a Children s University learning destination which promotes lifelong learning for children aged five to 14. Coming soon A new state-of-the-art learning centre is currently being developed and will contain a hands-on archaeological investigation zone for school children. New areas of the Roman site will also be revealed to the public for the very first time.
