Welcome to The Afan Forest Resort The Afan Forest Resort is a 485 acre leisure site located inland midway between Swansea and Cardiff in the heart of the Afan Valley, The site has dense woodland areas and spectacular elevated views of the Brecon Beacons, The Presells, Black Mountains and also the South Wales coast line Why Afan Forest? The site has full outline planning permission for a major leisure development, including 240 holiday log cabins (uplift to a potential 750), two 100 bed hotels (budget and luxury) 18 hole golf course, 140 houses/retirement homes (with possible uplift to 280), mountain biking opportunities, leisure complex and health spa. The site is also adjacent to a European award-winning national mountain biking facility, Afan Forest Park, which receives 60,000 visitors per year! A final phasing plan for the next five years has already been agreed and the first phase will comprise approximately 200 log cabins and a 100 bed budget hotel.. What does Afan Forest offer for holiday makers? The location is in an internationally renowned location for mountain biking and has a variety of outdoor pursuits, including walking, horse riding, kayaking, fishing and climbing to name but a few. The development is set to become a much needed feature within this fine area of leisure & tourism.

An initial phase, potentially being up to 10 show cabins will be constructed for marketing purposes. The trails on site will link into the four nearby by Welsh network mountain bike trails, the Penhydd trail, the Skyline trail, the Wall trail and White's level trail. Twisty, rooty, rocky and in places wildly exposed, the singletrack in Afan Forest Park is the enthusiasts dream. The trails here have been carved out of hillsides once surrounded by coal mining, but now the valley has been transformed into a bikers heaven. Afan Forest Park is home to 5 world class trails, the Penhydd, Y Wal, Skyline, White s Level and W2 boasting over 100 km of singletrack trails. Afan Forest Park was the only UK trail destination to feature in the What Mountain Bike Magazine as one of the ten best places to ride before you die. In 2008 it was also voted one of the top ten public forests in the UK by the Sunday Telegraph. The Forestry Commission made this area a Forest Park 35 years ago because of its great walking potential. In this time they have created nine varied walks for visitors.
