2 ABOUT US We are a publishing house interested in heritage, culture and our historical roots. We develop our own projects, and also external projects related with these areas. Along our working path, we have specialized ourselves in children s books. We bravely believe in the transmission of our cultural heritage through education. Due to that, we think the best way to reach this is working with children. We encourage teachers and students to learn about our tradition and culture through a reading/creating process.

5 THE FLOWERING TREE Author: Marjorie Agosín Illustrator: Francisca Yáñez Created by writer and professor Marjorie Agosín and the renowned national illustrator Francisca Yañez, The Flowering Tree is a text based on real events which narrates the life of a Jewish family that, after escaping the conflicts in Europe, comes to live in the Valparaiso Region, specifically in Quillota. The narrator of the book is Celeste, the granddaughter of the immigrants Abraham and Raquel. This book is aimed at children and young adults and seeks to instill in them values such as tolerance, acceptance, and appreciation for each other s differences in a multicultural context. It also aims to encourage dialogue within families, classrooms, and communities, regarding migration, whether it is in their own context, at country levels, and as a worldwide phenomenon.

Author: Francisca Jiménez This book teaches children about the material culture from Región Metropolitana (Chile s capitol region), through a theoretical-practical process. One of the main purposes is to introduce the craft makers to children. In this edition we include three new craftmakers and two new crafts. We invite children to explore this artistic manifestations and also to try to reproduce them, with simple instructions and school materials.

13 AMERICAN ANIMALS Author: Francisca Jiménez Ilustrator: Johanna Moroso This book was created for children who are starting to learn how to read. It shows them the main animals of our continent with shorts rhyming texts.

14 PUEBLOS AMERICANOS Author: Francisca Jiménez Illustrator: Natalia Rodríguez This book focuses on a indigenous people all around the south-, north- and central American continent. These distinct groups are presented with illustrations and texts, that aim to give understanding and familiarize children with their heritage. This book is with its short rhyming texts, perfect for preschool children.

16 CULTURAL HERITAGE WORKSHOPS The main target of the Cultural Heritage Workshops is to teach children about our crafts, traditions and also, about the material culture of the indigenous people from Chile and Latin-America. The activities are based on our books collection Craftmakers Children (Discovering and making Aymara/ Atacameña/ Mapuche/ Rapa nui/ Latin-American crafts).
